I wonder if the ink on the bills was still wet when they "found" it??

At least now the US can cover the interest on their debt for a few more days than previously thought.

But the inspector general's new report says almost all the $6.6 billion was properly handed over to Iraq and its Central Bank. "SIGIR was able to account for the unexpended DFI funds remaining in DFI accounts when the CPA (Coalitional Provisional Authority) dissolved in June 2004," the new report says. "Sufficient evidence exists showing that almost all of the remaining $6.6 billion remaining was transferred to actual and legal CBI (Central Bank of Iraq) control."

Is this kind of like when they find a few boxes of forgotten ballots in someone's trunk just when those numbers matter most? yeah... riiight... I love the fact they can say these things with a straight face. I have to give them points for that, anyway.

You know the numbers are sugar coated, see if you go back to the beginning of the Middle east conflicts you will find news of missing billions even then, perhaps they are not adding the Bremen 9 billion lost when he was interim government of Iraq right after invasion.

Or the other times that money went missing, quite a lot more than the mere 6.6 billion been advertised.

The government lies as usual, is more than just a few billions that has gone missing.

Yeah, I love this sort of thing. They think we have such small brains and short memories that we'll think they've fixed the problem and it's all over. I can't think why they even mentioned it in the first place, except for that very reason. You know: "Hey: We found those missing Iraq billions! Everything's OK!"

I would have looked in Dick Cheney's man sized safe.
