I've never heard of Henry Cavil, He's sporting a new supes outfit, no cape, or the cape could be added by CGI.

What do you think? I think it needs some red undies on the outside.

I don't know how I feel about being portrayed this way. I feel my classic costume is the best. Oh well. Artistic interpretation I guess.

They are ruining everything that was once at least half way cool. I'm not defending the red underwear and tights, I'm referring to superhero movies in general.

-The Amazing Spider-man for instance. Really? Didn't we just watch this version less than 10 yrs ago?
-What about the new Batman? I give up, I'm just about done with Hollywood and their crap for quick profits.
-Anyone else feel the disturbance in the Force when Optimus Prime became a cold blooded executioner?
-Captain America & Johnny Storm, same actor...really? Is there a shortage of douche bag shirtless male actors?

I expect to be thoroughly disappointed in the new film being a major Superman fan since childhood.

edit-
It doesn't get much better than the classics. So cheesy, yet so good....

What about the new Batman?
Spiderman will be good if he's gonna end up in a second Avengers movie. (I think thats what the reboot is for).
Captain America and Jonny Storm being the same actor: I'm sure yuo'll be delighted to know there is going to be a Fantastic Four reboot too (or so i've heard).

Personally I think the newest Batman movies are more than a step in the right direction.

Where does it end though? Pretty soon they will just stop writing anything new and remake the same films every 2 years, just to give new actors' faces a chance to make them a quick profit.
Did you watch Battle of Los Angeles? I did, but I couldn't tell you one part of that one, just a bunch of noise and confusion with no real plot worth remembering.

Have you heard of these guys?

If not, check out some of their reviews, the Star Wars reviews are the best on the internet.
I kind of hold the same opinions as they have on these new remakes and such. Just my 2 pennies.

edit- The Dark Knight was the only Batman film I thought should be called a film, vs. a "movie", the others were generic crap. Heath as the Joker was the main thing that saved that film.

I can't defend the new Spider-Man as I see no reason for it. The new Batman is to undo the abortions that were the Joel Schumacher films. It also portrays a Batman that is more in keeping with the original comics, as well as what Batman has been like since the 80s when Alan Moore, Frank Miller, and Grant Miller brought the character back to his roots. As for the same actor playing Cap and Johnny, the rights to Captain America and Fantastic Four are owned by different studios. The Fantastic Four are not part of the current Marvel Cinematography Universe that started with Iron Man and is soon to culminate in the Avengers.

I don't think Spidey will be in any Marvel Studio productions any time soon. Columbia Pictures currently has the rights for Spider-Man movies and they already have a sequel for Amazing Spider-Man planned.

Don't forget Ryan Reynolds is both Green Lantern and Dead Pool. Just like Xmen's Cyclops actor was also in Superman returns.

I almost expect Tobey Maguire to show back up as Robert Bruce Banner in Hulk 3. Wouldn't that suck?

Back to the OP. I like the Supermans new look. I think it looks retro in a acceptable way. The muscle seem a tad rubbery but it's not TMNT from the early 90's.

I've got to agree. Isn't one creative idea in hollywood? We've gone as far as we can go so lets remake everything?

The problem is with the modern climate in Hollywood most good ideas would be butchered before they were released. Might as well let them screw up something they've already done before than ruin something that is genuinely interesting. It does scare me however that there is a studio out there with the rights to Sandman.

Kinda, But Deadpool is Marvel while Green Lantern is DC.
Same again with Cyclops Marvel, Guy from Superman returns DC.

That is perfectly acceptible IMO.

Thats a shame, Spidey would do wonders with The Avengers.
In Comic history, did Spidey only come into The Avengers after CA had gone???

Ryan Reynolds was also Hannibal King in Blade Trinity which is also a Marvel comics character like Deadpool. It doesn't really matter to me, though. If Hannibal King is ever in movies again it won't be Ryan Reynolds, and whenever a Fantastic Four reboot comes out, Chris Evans won't be Johnny Storm. I am willing to give all of these films a chance, but I am most excited about The Avengers.

He does look like Christopher Reeve though, with his hair like that, don't you think?

To me he does anyway.

I like the look of no red undies, and I like the 'S' symbol too!

I am really looking forward to this Superman movie, especially since Zack Snyder is directing it! i've enjoyed all his previous movies and I just know the action, look and overall feel of the movie is gonna be great with him on board! I imagine the fight scenes will be epic which has always lacked in superman movies so far and kinda disappointed me!

Seriously can't wait for it!

Spiderman was always a loner until Marvel decided they wanted to capitalize on their top characters the way DC had been doing with Justice League. So, in the 2000s, they brought Spiderman and Wolverine into the Avengers with the already established Cap and Iron Man. And they brought in a rebooted Luke Cage for the urban market.
For decades long fans of any of those characters, it completely changed them and went against character. Wolverine is an X-man and that's where his loyalties and responsibilities lie. Spiderman is essentially a loner. It's part of his character. Then that Toby Maguire movie came out, and the comic followed the movie, turning Peter Parker into a whining nincompoop instead of a compelling character. And then made him part of a team.
I get that things change. In this case, they just changed for the worse.

But to answer thee question, when New Avengers began, both Cap and Spiderman were members (started with the Raft escape incident).

* Amazing Spider-Man is apparently based on the Ultimate Spiderman comic book so I can see why they'd reboot the franchise with the alterations from that source

* What's wrong with Nolan's Batman movies? They've been the best ones

* Can't speak about Optimus because I never saw Transformers 3 but I never did like Transformers anyway as a kid

* No clue about that but hell, they still wanna make the Deadpool movie even though Ryan Reynolds has recently played Green Lantern too and him being up for starring in movies for both characters

I never heard of Henry Cavill when he was cast and can't say I ever watched The Tudors either but I'm liking that the suit isn't tight around the neck area. I know the Nolans have been working on a story and trying to add as much realism to The Man of Steel as they possibly can (considering it's a movie about an alien who has every super power you can think of and more) as well as something that's never been done before with the character so I have faith in them.

Not sure about the lack of red in the pelvis region but honestly, I think it's because I'm used to seeing the classic costume for a number of years and there's that whole thing where if you're used to one thing for a long time and then something comes along that's slightly different then some won't like it.

Like I said though, despite myself and my brother having reservations about Russell Crowe as Jor-El (neither of us rate him as an actor), we both know that the Nolans are always worth trusting to make a great movie.

I've got a comic book compilation annual thing from the early 70s and I'm pretty sure The Avengers in there is the team of Storm, Wolverine, Iceman, Colossus, Hawk Girl, Captain America and Iron Man and one adventure was crammed in before a Hulk vs The Thing story.

Wasn't Wolverine part of The Avengers or is that Marvel release wrong somehow? Have to admit, don't know much about the group.

Oh and you know what disappointed me most about Superman Returns and then Man of Steel? The fact that Tom Welling played Clark Kent for a decade in Smallville and lost out first to Brandon Routh and then to Henry Cavill when it came to the movie versions.
