wow, talk about professional... that pilot must have balls of steel

but i think they should of not flown a plane that is not serviced properly and at the end of the day the captain is the one who desides to fly or not to fly so sanctions have nothing to do with that....amazing landing anyways

UNSC prohibitions in violation of it, therefore, are null and void.

If UNSC Resolution 1929 was in violation of the 1944 Convention on International Aviation (whose constitution, mind you, has been altered and changed as recently as 2006), it would have been declared null and void. Has it been declared null and void? No. The Convention on International Civil Aviation has made no formal complaint, nor has it filed a grievence with the UNSC against Resolution 1929.

Naturally that has nothing to do with the fact that the current ICAO head is French, a cheerleader for sanctions. And, of course, the ICAO could overrule US restrictions and force Boeing to export spare parts.

Well that's what the U.S. wants - Iran to be forced to not let any aircraft fly, pushing it into the stone age. A modern nation cannot operate with no aircraft. That's an unreasonable and unrealistic solution. Like banning food imports and saying "Iranians should just choose not to eat. If they die from starvation - that's on them."

Cause and Effect
Cause = Iran not playing by the rules thus sanctions
Effect = Poor maintenance on Iran aircraft

= No fault of US / West

but also places the lives of innocent Iranians in danger every day.

Actually those putting Iranian lives in danger are those flying the supposed faulty planes and those allowing them to be flown - it just shows how little regard they have for fellow Iranian lives!

So that makes it ok to fly anyway and put innocent peoples life at risk?
It is the pilot/captain who decides to fly or not, not usa,not iran, not anybody else ,it is not the sanctions that risked these peoples life:s it was the pilot , though he (or she) managed to save them too...

Which rules are they not playing by?

(P.S. - Barack Obama / George Bush soundbytes don't constitute "rules.")

What's really funny is the blustering chickenhawks who sit here and smugly say "well, if small toddlers get burned to death in an airplane crash, that's the way it is - Iran needs to follow UN Security Council resolutions" are the same people who, on any other day, would be screaming for the US to cut payments to the UN and drop membership.

IOW - if the UN is doing something in obedience to US foreign policy it is the gold standard of rulemaking and international authority who must be reverentially obeyed. If it censure Israel, elects Libya to head the HRC, or anything the US doesn't like, it's a gang of lunatic despots who should be shunned.

Iranian aircraft industries has developed their own indigounus fighter. Im sure they could design their own transport catagory aircraft too. If their imported aircraft are unsafe to fly, don't.

2nd of all, you don't know that it was a lack of spare parts that caused the nose gear not to deploy. Could have been an electrical malfunction, someone didn't service the gear hydraulic system properly, we just dont know.

Iran could , and probably do, obtain parts from third party sources. If they didnt those planes wouldnt last a week in commercial service.

Well they better start playing by the rules then huh? Sanctions are just that, sanctions

do you mean by rules, overthrowing your government and installing pro-west puppets to syphon all your country's natural resources at low ball prices so they can cry poverty and world instability as the reason you pay $5 for a gallon of gas while they post 41% profits.

those crazy iranians, imagine trying to control your own nations resources and developing nuclear weapons to deter an invasion aimed at liberating your oil, all the while, a few hundred miles away a nation with over 200 illegal and undeclared nuclear warheads and in itchy trigger finger are conspiring to manufacture an excuse to decimate the only thing that will prevent the inevitable.

when the arab country's finally unite and put an oil embargo on the u.s. and israel, that has you paying $45 for a gallon of gas, if you could actually find some and americans are dying because ambulances are running out of gas halfway to the hospital, i'll post the same reply on the future ats thread titled opec places oil sanctions on america.

You do realize that nose gears get stuck from time to time right?

It happens in america even though we don't have any sanctions on us.

And I wouldn't call landing gear failure a near kill.

No matter what, those guys were able to keep the nose up right to the stop, never seen that before. As for the sanctions, even MSM accept that the sanctions are onerus and intended to affect the ordinary citizen more than anything else.
