24 October 2011 Last updated at 15:04
Europe's most active volcano, Mount Etna, has begun to spew large plumes of bright orange lava.
Eruptions as high as 100 metres (300 feet) were visible near Sicily and nearby Catania airport was shut for a short time due to the smoke and ash.

I couldn't find this covered in fragile earth so thought I would make a small thread on it, as it is news belonging in this forum. Although it is
probably being covered in volcano watch, I will check it out now.
Please mods close this if it is covered in another thread or in volcano watch.
