Hi ATS.

felt a need to do this thread.

a little bit about myself.
i´m 23 years of age, i´m in healthcare.
currently working with mentally and physically disabled (young) adults.
got a nephew who's been diagnosed with borderline, he's also the guy who inspired me to take this direction with my life.

so today i was studying a bit and i came across a book i've had for several years.
it's called upside van down, it's a dutch book.
it also the name of an organisation for people with down syndrome. (the book and organisation are related)

the book is about children diagnosed with down syndrome and their parents.
the book includes pictures from the children and a story written by mam and dad about said child.
now i know, from experience, there are lots of people who are condescending towards handicapped people.

what i'm trying to accomplish by this thread is to raise a little awareness and respect for these people and at the same time show the beauty of these people.
i'm trying to accomplish this by showing you some of the pictures in the book.

hope you enjoy ATS.

the sheer beauty of these people amazes me and the seemingly care-free world they live in.
i love my job!

hope you enjoyed ATS.

thoughts?

ETA:

i could share more pictures but i don't want to fill up an entire page with pictures.

Sometimes we become so fixated on our own pathetic LITTLE problems, we forget what the sound of such unhindered joy is like from children who are by birth, in a far worse position than we'll ever be..

Thanks for this!!

exactly!
except judging from experience, they have far less worries as the average ´normal´ person.
