Strange happenings....advice?

Okay this is my first post on ATS and I never expected it to be on this topic. So here we go.

My wife and I have been living in our apartment for about a year and a half now and there has been strange things happening. From the time we first moved in we both saw and heard weird things. I can recall seeing shadows moving down our staircase (the cat saw it too and followed it), noises like a full grown person coming up the stairs, strange noises and feelings. Other people have told us of hair-raising feelings and goosebumps just by being in our apartment....one night we both heard a plate fall off the kitchen counter and shatter but upon going into the kitchen there was no glass even though our cat was puffed up and on edge.....small children have randomly started talking to the thin air and walking aimlessly as if following someone.....it's creepy......

The reason I bring all this up is because here lately I have been waking up randomly between 2am and 5am almost every night.....and every time it's after a nightmare (which I never have). I literally can count the number of nightmares I have had since I was a kid on one hand. I just dont get them. Here lately I have had one every night for a week. And when I wake up after them I feel something. I can't describe it other than it just feels like there is something in the room that makes me uncomfortable....like it means to harm me or feels ill-will towards me....I am a christian and I fully believe in demonic beings and I am afraid thats what it might be.....any insight?

Its possible that you have an entity in
your apartment but not necessarily a
demon. I think if you were to put this
in the Paranormal thread you may
get a better understanding of what
is going on.

My friends house use to have strange things like this happen a lot. His mom did something called "white washing" which seemed to work, not really sure what it was though.

I recommend setting up cameras in similar vein to the Paranormal Activity movies.
You might catch something interesting while your eyes are closed.

This doesn't sound like a demon. Demons are too smart to just make noise and walk around. Sounds like a lost soul that is attached to said dwelling.

lol it sounds like you have paper thin walls. My apartment, when really quiet, one might think it's haunted. It's really the neighbors having sex.

Maybe you have a ghost.

Firstly, stop believing in demonic things as described in biblical doctrine. That's an interpretation but one that is used to control people rather than depict the actual nature of things. What you *can* do is to use the love described as fundamental to your faith and work with the entity or entities that might be attached to that location. Do not react with fear at any point. Surprise is not the same as fear, by the way. Whatever happens, acknowledge it and react as you would to a physical person getting up to the same antics. Ask what the entity wants, if you can help, draw it closer with an air of love. There is no danger this way.

People attract energies and their reactions attract reactions. If you choose fear, you will receive an appropriate response. Make conscious choices. If something goes wrong, learn from it and adapt, just as you would need to with any other interaction.

Try to find out if your entire building has this "haunting" or is it only your apartment alone. Others may have hints for coping with the situation. It is also possible that someone there has actively summoned, conjured, or created that entity's presence there. We have all kinds in the world.

The point is to react to this situation rationally and with curiosity - not fear. Fear will immobilize you and you'll get nowhere. If you simply cannot muster the wherewithal to face this, whatever it is, with love and peace, you will need to find someone who can or alternatively, simply move away. But there is always the chance that it could move along with you, if your energy is sufficiently attractive to it.

I would have to say if you have an iphone or android phone get the app called night recorder. I can say it dose work on catching the strange noises
the reason I know it works is because where I live now I have been getting woken up at 3 to 4 am with a strange noise in my home I can't work out what it is but I can hear on the night recorder

It sounds like whatever is in your home could be malevolent.... but things can go either way. Many times when you feel terrified and freaked out, it's not the actual entity that is demonic or evil, it's just our minds over-processing things and letting fear get the best of our rationale. I agree with a previous poster-- energy is very important. As a Christian I'm sure you know the quote 'perfect love casteth out fear.' Nothing can truly harm you if you stay positive and do not let fear overcome. Evil can always be conquered.

Whether it is a ghost, lost soul or whatever you want to call it, it is still demonic. Demons have a number of disguises that they use to fool man. Pretending to be a lost soul or dead family member is their favorite, although these days they seem to like to be from another planet with hidden knowledge. In either case, I wouldn't worry, if you are in Christ then these beings have no power over you. However, they can scare the crap out of you and make sleeping almost impossible. I don't get to much plate droppings, but the whispers are pretty much non stop.

Demons hate Christians just a much as man does, but even more.

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:10-12

Whatever you do, do not communicate with these beings lest you open yourself up to something even more sinister.

Yes I agree with you!

And OP - Just sourround yourself in the "WHITE LIGHT OF CHRIST"....and remember....no entity of ANY KIND, wheather it is a demon or just a lost soul, has any power up against the white light. If you turn on a light in a dark room....there is NO question it will engulf the entire room and reach every corner intantly! Therefore ....the dark can never take over the light...as long as the light is shining!

YUP!! this is true...."demonic" interpretation in todays world is distorted. Truly the difference between the light and dark is simply the absence of light.

Something we all need to bear in mind too is that there is no light without darkness and vice versa. Neither is innately bad nor good. That interpretation depends on your own personal perspective. That is why it is so important to always approach these situations with unknown entities with curiosity and benevolence, never with fear. Ask if you can help and how you can help.

We have had a good deal of building going on in our neighborhood of late. There has been a fair bit of blasting of rock going on and this area is built on what used to be pagan magickal forests. Legend had it that right where they blasted last, right behind our building, was where particularly powerful earth spirits had been sealed in the stone. When they blasted, those spirits were released. Some wild stuff has happened. Cars had problems and/or stopped working, computers would suddenly fry, all household appliances would just die. One night, I got up to use the loo around 2am. I saw a green glow in the corner of the ceiling at the end of the hall. There is nothing there that could possibly give that light, nothing could reflect from anything else to give that effect. We had to replace two laptops that week. Those were what we call "gremlins". They exist just as much as you and I do.

But there is no reason to experience these things with fear. They exist. They always have. In Siberia, they still leave offerings to the forest spirits and in homes they still leave bits of food for the "house elf". It looks over your home's safety so you must welcome it and make it feel loved. Maybe we could do with a bit more of that sort of thinking in our world today. We all live here, after all. This planet isn't just for humans nor does it work the way we would like to think it does. Those old wives' tales and folk ways weren't wrong.

NO absolutey...I totally agree with most of what you are saying. Having fear towards these things promotes more fear. And they will respond to what you are feeling, accordingly.

However....there are some of the green things, which I call "goulies" (not sure if that is the proper term for them) but I think we may be talking about the same thing.....not sure. These things have a negative connotation surrounding them. They are not good. I wouldn't say they are "demons" however they have a tendancy to hangout where someone is in the disease of addiction. And they don't leave unless you directly address them to leave and it REALLY pisses them off. But they are no match for human (which is a pc. of the Alpha and the Omega). When ordered to do so...they MUST leave. And it doesen't mean necessarily that the person presently in the house is in their disease....they could have been left over from the previous people and even the ones prior to them. Because once they are there...they don't leave, like I said until ordered to do so. And they WILL come back unless you stay on top of it...send down the road and into a sealed area like a cave or something. They are very strange creatures. I"ve seen them do some devious things and laugh about it. Very strange these little boogers!

However, I do agree we must find a way to harmoniously..for we are definatly not the ONLY entities on this planet, no question.

Very strange about your stituation though...that really sucks! I would keep you and your family and your HOME in the white light of protection....and keep it there all the time for now. Make sure your Spirit Guides are there to assist the other angels you should be calling in to clear the area. You CAN clear the entire area, you know...just by doing exactly what I just said.....calling in the 4 arch angels and asking your Guides, which are already there, to assist you in this. They will totally handle it.

Haha! No, these were gremlins. We have no addictions whatsoever and we've been here for 15 years. This was restricted to the time around the blasting. They have all since dispersed to parts unknown.

This didn't just happen to us in our flat. It was our neighbors as well, in this building and all the surrounding buildings. It was laughed off as coincidence by those "rational" persons, but when you can't see patterns in things, it doesn't seem very rational at all to me. It just seems like denial.

No worries though. There were more than just gremlins roving around. All sorts of interesting things went on. It was pretty lively around here then. Now we're back to the odd wandering soul strolling in for a chat.

I apoligize if it sounded as though I was saying that you or your family had an addiction.....because I wasn't trying to convey this. I was saying that "my" experience with these things "I've" seen (which may be different than what you are referring to, I'm not sure) seem to come around where there is addiction in the household. For example my sister and her husband bought this house. The people who lived there previously had some high school kids that used to hang out in the attic and do their thing. This left residue behind and these things were there when they bought the house.

17 years later, they were still there. She couldn't see them but her youngest son could when they first moved into the house. They had never said anything to me about it until recently (about a year ago) after she and her husband divorced. Her youngest son is now 21 and no longer sees them ( THE GOULIES). They create depression and bad energy wherever they are (the goulies). While having a conversation with her approximately a year ago about my girlfriends house that we had just cleansed from these things....she questioned if they were in her house also. And decided to do the cleanse to see if it helped her and her sons depression and sure enough when she started cleansing the house and ordering them out...she could hear them running out the door and standing on the porch jumping up and down and screaming to get back in. It FREAKED HER OUT! SHe said there were a BUNCH of them. Just a food for thought....her oldest son also had the disease of addiction. And practiced it many years in that house, in the attic also......where his bedroom was. He has since cleaned up and is going into the armed services and no longer lives there.

However, it is interesting to note that in my girlfriends house her son also....was an alcoholic. I had another friend who had the same experience when she, herself was in her in disease. SO I'm not clear if that is the ONLY time they come around. But I can say that in all cases of the disease of addiction that I'm awear of......they were present. So what means....EXACTLY, I'm unclear. I just know what I know.

But glad to hear your place and neighborhood has calmed down. That is scary stuff when this crap comes around and starts messing you!

I dunno...Have you ever been to the Void? It's darkness is perfect. And it exists just fine without light. And it is definitely sinister, regardless of personal interpretation.

Hmm. We haven't had problems like that here. Odd too, since Finland is quite a boozy nation. The previous owner of this flat died from lung cancer. He was certainly addicted to smoking, but we haven't had anything like this until the blasting started. It was clearly from the spirits released from the stone. To be honest, I never would have believed you could really lock spirits in anything with spells and so forth. I believe it now. I would be interesting to meet someone powerful enough to do it now.

I think there must be something more than just addiction that is at issue there. If not then wouldn't there just be ghoulies hanging around everywhere? I suppose it would take a degree of malice along with whatever it is that produces a tendency toward addiction.

Gremlins love machines and electronics. If you ever see a green glow near your stuff when there's no light that should produce it, know you've got trouble brewing there.
