Guy Fawkes stared at him with hollow eyes. He held a white poster board sign with the phrase "End The Fed." colored in crimson red marker. He held
the sign out to make his point, hoping the man would reciprocate. The man shook his head approvingly and moved through the crowd.
The man was taller than average with an athletic build. His head was bald, with steely grey eyes and a narrow clean shaven face. His black leather
jacket was zipped up half way revealing a shirt that said "Revolution" beneath.
The man turned around just in time to see a stout police officer pulling the mask off, and revealing identity of Guy Fawkes. It turned out he was a
frail teenage boy with long dark hair. The officer grabbed the boy and struggled to zip tie his wrists together while dragging him out of the crowd.
He resisted complaining of the painful restraint as another lanky boy struggled to pull him back. The cop punched at tall kid while reaching for his
can of pepper spray. The crowd sensed the tension and became animated.
Citizens screamed and yelled and fought back against the cops. The cops had been given orders to randomly arrest protestors, but this was not the
reaction they were looking for.
The man felt an instinctual calling to make himself heard. He spun slowly in a circle looking for a place he could speak. His gaze fell upon the
stone steps that ascended to the town hall entrance where marble pillars rose to support the neoclassical structure.
With a burst of adrenaline he weaved his way through the crowd. He scaled the stairs two at a time until he reached the top where a flock a carrier
pigeons cooed and strutted.
His pulse quickened as he inhaled the crisp October air. The crowd quieted and starred in his direction. He opened his mouth to speak, but
hesitated. The fear of oration in front of such a large group had caught him off guard. He swallowed the fear and then suddenly the words flowed
out...
"We're here today in solidarity! Every generation has a chance to make their voice heard. This is our chance."
The crowd seemed unmoved and began to turn away and resume their struggle.
He spoke louder.
"For the first time in history, humanity has come together around the world to demonstrate! From Chile to China, Australia, Japan, Spain, and even
Russia.
We are the voice of the majority yet we're never heard. We are the hands that built this country, but they'd never shake our hands!
Today, we will be heard, but we're not here to shake hands. We're here to make a statement, and we do it in the name of peace.
Suddenly the flock of pigeons took flight and rose above the crowd in a mass exodus.
"I promise that this is only the beginning. They can't ignore us forever.
To the police I see here; you are part of the overwhelming majority. You were sent here to help stop us, but you're welcome to join us!"
The crowd roared in approval, and began to chant
"The people united will never be defeated!"
"The people united will never be defeated!"
"The people united will never be defeated!"
The police officer let go of Guy Fawkes and let him assume his identity again. The officers in the white uniforms signaled for the rest to disband
move away from the crowd.
The crowd went back to conversing with each other in an attempt to spread knowledge that would lead to an eventual change in the course of history.
