The remains of a Pennsylvania airman missing in the Vietnam War arrived this morning at Pittsburgh International Airport.

Air Force Capt. Thomas E. Clark, 28, of Emporium, was shot down on Feb. 8, 1969, over Laos as he was attacking an anti-aircraft artillery position. Clark's remains were in a flag-draped casket met by an Air Force honor Guard and several relatives.

Three other American pilots on the same mission in Laos did not see a parachute or any other signs of Clark. Immediate search-and-rescue missions were not able to locate the crash site. The U.S. Air Force determined Clark to be killed in action. The U.S. Air Force posthumously promoted him to the rank of major.

In 1991 and 1992, teams from Laos and the U.S. identified the crash site. In 2009, investigators recovered human remains there. After extensive examination, including isotope and dental testing, officials positively identified the remains as Clark's.

I put this story here as I find in interesting on so many levels. First of all, there is a personal aspect to this-that I won't get into other than to say I too have awaited this day for a very long time.

But more importantly, I wanted to highlight the fact that we, the USA, did in fact conduct operations in Laos-not that there needed to be anymore evidence but, most of the time Maj. Clark was missing, the official story was he was shot down/lost over Vietnam. But with so much secretacy and official US Gov't denials, no one in the Clark family ever got the truth.

I am sure the news of Maj Clark's remains being located in Laos was as much of a shock to them as it was to everyone else.

I think it is a great deed that the US continues to search for lost service members but it seems with some that they find, they can't help but have to tell the truth-which exposes military operations which "didn't" happen.

I find it very interesting that the Laos Gov't was involved/aided in the find. Not to mention it took 10 year from the wreckage find to the body being located. Crazy.

Well, at least he was located and returned. It will be up to the US Gov't to tell whatever story floats in the World eyes to make it make sense.

I wonder how many others are out there, unaccounted for that the Gov't is lying about-thus making it harder for the truth to be known and lessen the likelyhood of finding the poor soul. Think about it...

Calling it the Vietnam is totally misdirection and downplaying the truth.

It was the Second Indochina War, which was preceded by the First Indochina War.

1st Indochina War
2nd Indochina War

This war is a direct result of European Imperialistic conquest which took place over a period of centuries.

Please review the history of French Indochina.

Laos was actually part of French Indochina.

Let's go even further back and study exactly how all of this fell into place.
Franco-Siamese War of 1893

Then let's see how this connects to the Opium Wars

I realize I am throwing a bunch of links out here, but seriously folks, GO READ THEM!

It totally explains current events and it shows exactly how imperialism and resource grabbing led directly to our current predicament.

Why was an American Air Serviceman's remains in Lagos?
The answer is huge and it spans centuries in scope.
