Traffic Police warns drunken moose
Police asks drivers to be careful during driving on country roads - on the route can go ... drunk moose. According to the traffic police near Moscow, in the fall moose actively eat apples falling from trees, wildings and other fruits, which, falling on the rotten leaves begin to rot and to ferment. As a result, the animals fall into a kind of intoxication

Interesting, even without link. I used to have a siberian huskie with a drinking problem. Whenever we'd have parties that dog would be passed out at the end of the night next to the keg from drinking all the foam run off.

Dogs are naturally attracted to the hobs and grains in beer.
Most dogs will drink it, not knowing it will get them drunk.

Mooses?

Moose is the plural of moose..lol

and yes, animals are attracted to the fermented grain and hops in beer and some liquor, the same way are attracted to fermented fruit.
They USUALLY don't realize what it does to them.... however, some do recognize the effects and return to get more.
Yup Animals like to catch a buzz too.. just drop a fresh catnip top near a cat... they will be all over it like ants on sugar.

Drunk animals are great, i can watch them for hours. Even drunk wasps are funny, especially when they try and fly. Must be something to do with living on this planet - everything looks for ways to get off its face

This reminds me of old concrete silos that used to store shredded corn. On the bottom there'd be a hole where all the liquid would drain out of the silo and onto the ground. Chickens and pigs would drink out of that and wind up staggering around the barnyard drunk as skunks.

Which makes me think of skunks who like to dig underneath backyard composters and eat all that weeks old kitchen waste. No doubt it's got a bit of a kick as well.

Which makes me also wonder if those rotting apples aren't responsible for deer getting frisky this time of year and dashing across the road in front of my car all the time.

Do bears get drunk too?

Yes bears will gorge on berries to the point their digestive system can't process the food for a while, and the stuff ferments and you end up with a drunk bear. And if you think a drunk bears funny, think about a bear with a hangover. And yes they can get them too.

How about the animals that get themselves drunk? Is that still animal cruelty?

If people leave alcohol on ground or at camping site, animals drink alcohol out there. It is people's responsible. You never know if little children pick those up and drink it. People do on purpose to make animals drunk then that would be animal cruelty.
