Thank goodness they are keeping to the larger cities so we don't have to put up with this crap out in the heartland. What little driving I do is only occasionally hindered by a small cattle drives to relocate them to a new range. Can't imagine how inconvenient a herd of commies wannabes would be. Where is a McCarthy when we need him?

Enough with the whole 'Pinko, commie' crap! your about 60 years late to the 'we are terrified of communisim' bull that you are so fond of.

Facilitating communisim is NOT what all of this is about.

They keep saying Occupy Sydney gave up, but I think that's just wishful thinking on the part of the media. As a writer I've been in contact with the organisers as well as a few non-protester friends who visited Martin Place over the weekend. As far as I can tell, numbers were steady over the weekend - peaking at around 2000 with about 100-150 staying in Martin Place overnight on Saturday and Sunday. I don't know what the numbers are like this morning, but I'm guessing there will be quite a few Sydney occupiers who have to bail out for school/uni/work.

Despite that, when a smaller city such as Sydney can mobilise almost as many protesters as a large US city like Seattle you have to take it seriously. I'll be heading down there later in the week to get a first-hand look.

I'm following this whole movement with interest. I don't think we've ever seen anything like it.

@greenCo - Star and flag for you. I think the events in Rome may scupper any chance of a nobel peace prize for the occupy movement, but... like the man in the song said - "there's somethin' happening here... what it is ain't exactly clear..."

While we're talking about common sense, how about working within the system? All of these people are getting no where because they refuse to do the work to go through the proper channels. Your local reps must represent their peoples will or they lose their job. Gov't isn't a faceless entity, we elect each member and we have the right to assert our will to each one or said Gov't is to be terminated. Simple as that. It's all there in plain English of the constitution.

Yeah, that's why we have awesome pieces of literature like the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights to remind these politicians that we own them, not the other way around. "BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU GOT". We're in "the big club" because we created "the big club" with patriot blood. (U.S. Declaration of Independence) It's ignorance that allows illusion. If you want to throw away and ignore what's been given, you may die like the monarchy that we ousted from this nation. It's easier to work from within the system to rid corruption rather than force it to break and have to start all over again.

In Hell, with all the other fascist ideologues who hate fear the constitution and hate the people it protects.

I wonder if the fact that it's going global will put an end to the talk of "This is all being scripted by Obama and the Democrats" ?

Does the Democratic Party control the mass movement of people in Sydney, Tokyo, or London?

There are valid reasons for opposing and/or being skeptical of OWS. I have serious doubts myself about the direction of the movement. But claiming it's "Obummer's fault" is just stupid.

I'm not a Democrat. Or a Republican. I just oppose knee-jerk partisan thinking. This thing might end in disaster for all I know. But hopefully recent developments will shake people out of their two-party slumber.

There are laws in place that subvert the constitution,
Patriot act.
They can take away all of them if they wanted.

Yeah they can try to, if there's any of them left alive, that is. They can try right after they take away every gun from every real American who will say "die mother#er, die mother#er, die" to anyone who dares challenge their rights promised to them by the highest law in the land (which is the U.S. Constitution but for some reason I didn't think you knew that). Nothing subverts freedom. Nothing subverts a patriot bullet into the back of a fascist skull.
