This link speaks for itself. Some of these groups have become a laughing stock that cannot be taken seriously. They lose all credibility by even suggesting such preposterous actions.

Why would anyone ever want to arrest someone who is such a great human being?

I mean, why? They must just make these things up...

Just another example.

Amnesty Int'l was founded on a good idea and shortly thereafter tainted with ideology. All downhill from there.

Just like Greenpeace. You start to drift from reality and common sense when you start suggesting such silliness as a group. As per the article, this would be a declaration of war if it was ever implemented.

If Canadian's do not arrest Bush then they may be accused of harbouring a terrorist.

Not that I disagree with Amnesty, necessarily, but which of the following would be the actual outcome if the RCMP arrested George Bush or, for that matter, any former U.S. President?

(a) immediate drone attack on Rideau Hall and 24 Sussex

(b) immediate sealing of the border, strangling the 70% of the Canadian economy that is dependent on exports to the U.S., and resulting in national bankruptcy within 6 months

(c) punitive occupation of a secondary city like Niagara Falls (a la Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic in the '20s)

(d) introduction of resolutions for expulsion of Canada from the OAS and NATO that would be slavishly voted for by sycophantic South American states

(e) seizure of all Canadian flagged merchant ships in U.S. ports

(f) all of the above

If they did they would be worldwide heroes. The fact they really don't have the "power" to arrest him after what went on during his presidency speaks volumes about how unfair of a world we really live in.

also, I suppose, should be added

(g) covert arms shipments to Mohawk and Quebecois militants

(h) embargo on American-made spare parts for CF Air Command aircraft

also, it bears noting that ex-Presidents travel under diplomatic passports; the advance approval of the U.S. government would be required to arrest George Bush assuming Canada wanted to honor its treaty obligations under the Vienna Convention

Why spread it for them then? Amnesty International is as credible as the Human Rights group from the UN full of members from countries without any freedom. Only nuts place any stock in them or work for them. I doubt they believe the crap they put out. Their leaders are after the paychecks just like the phonies at the UN.

Coming from someone who works within Immigration Canada...you people need to read the sections. You are found inadmissible to Canada if you have been involved in any war crimes, crimes against humanity, or torture. And from the years i have worked in Immigration there have been NO exceptions. I have seen Immigration turn down people from almost every country...people who have worked within government operated agencies. Literally if you worked as a janitor at one of these departments you would be turned down. And i obviously know how important these sections are.

Dick Cheney has openly admitted to using torture techniques, under the bush administration. And that's just what they released to the public. What about of the thousands of innocent people that have been killed during this occupation???

I know both Dick Cheney and Bush are under a diplomat passport....but I had to say something to the responses on this post. Yes they carried out these act for "National Security" and during times of war.But the same can be said about the 1000 of people that are not even set foot in Canada if they are even suspect to of known about any of these actions.

The sections are clear in the Immigration and Refugee Act, and if it were anyone else YES they would in fact be arrested in Canada and deported. Its the law.

Yes they are here as diplomats.....but its unclear to me why we have these sections and regulations if certain people that hold certain titles are excluded from them. But as usual thats not the case.

AND for listing off all the things that would happen to Canada if they did arrest Bush....Its is OBVIOUSLY why Canada cant do anything about it. Which is totally unfair, the sections are there not to exclude certain parties just because we rely on them, they are supposed to be there to keep people out of Canada who have known are been involved in such things.

Why can't the canadian government just put Bush on CSIS's terrorist watch list and not let him into the country. Like they did with Winnie Mandela and actually Nelson Mandela was on the FBI terrorist watch list right up to 2008. JUST KEEP BUSH OUT (and while you're at it keep obama out too!)

Yes, arrest and hang him after "detaining" him for say 10 years in a dank cell with a bag over his head like he did to others. Proof you say, well sonny, some of us were born when this happened so we remember what he did.

It woulod be nice if someone had the balls to do it.
