Radioactive strontium found 150 miles from Fukushima

A total of 195 becquerels of strontium-90 has now been found in sediment on a rooftop in Yokohama.

Another day, another dribble of news out of Japan about how widespread the high level radioactive debris has travelled.

For those unfamiliar with the geogragh of Japan, that's the far side (to the south) of Tokyo from Fukushima.

So which is more hazardous? That sediment, or the average human body?

Becquerel

The average human body has 4400 becquerels from decaying potassium-40, which is a naturally-occurring isotope of potassium.

If the average human has 22 times the becquerels, should I be avoiding other people? I can't avoid myself, so if I have 4400 becquerels, I can't get away from it!

Or does that just mean that 195 becquerels isn't all that much?
