We know where the Republicans stand on the Jobs Bill. They appose anything that’s not offset by spending cuts.

As for the Democrats we will know their true colors around 5:30 PM this evening.

Democrats who face re-election in 2012 are likely to do the will of the people and vote against the jobs bill in its current form siding with Republicans whose appose new spending.

Democrats who DON’T face re-election will likely support the President and go against the will of the people because they can’t be held accountable in 2012.

It’s really as simple as that. I hope the OWS crowd and the Tea Partiers are watching – and have long memories.

Hrm, what was it the Republicans said their #1 priority was back when they regained power in 2010?

...and now they will (of course) vote against a jobs bill... after all the pissing and crying that the President doesn't do enough to help the economy?

Pathetic. Expected, but pathetic.

Why do our right wing elected officials hate working class Americans so much?

Then explain why Democrats who want to win re-election have to vote against it?

they don't hate us, that would take more effort than they are willing to give......they disdain us, because they think they are better than we are because they got lucky and were born into a family who had already made their money....We are good enough to serve their coffee, park their car, but never to strike up a conversation with. It is all about conditioning, and they have never been in a position to walk in the every man's shoes....to see what it takes to pay the rent, lights, put food on the table.....They have always had someone to take care of the menial routine tasks for them....They can not empathize with us because they have never walked in our shoes, why is it we keep electing them to office? They do not hold true to the concepts of a representative government, they don't represent us....we should have bob elected from down the street....He is the smartest guy on the block and understands what WE as a community need and want, which is the whole point....The key word, represent, ....elected officials are supposed to represent the majority of the population in the area and speak on their behalf....

I don't know, mental retardation? They don't HAVE to vote against it, and I certainly can't/don't speak for the Democratic party.

Explain to me why it's ok for the Republicans to hinder job creation when they claimed it was their #1 priority? Why should that gang of mongoloids get re-elected?

Typical liberal!

You think anyone who has money got it handed to them. Why do you think this way? Because to think that they worked for it, implies your not working hard enough or smart enough to get yours and your little brain can’t comprehend that. Or option B is you think somehow you missed the handout or weren’t invited to the party.

To be sure there are those who got the silver spoon treatment or who are getting favoritism from our grand government sponsors, but the vast majority of people who are well off – worked for it.

Republicans don't want to hinder job creation. They just don't want to spend $4.8 million per job created - which is exactly what Obama's plans have done so far. Also they want revenue neutral solutions. I have a question for you - do you trust that our government spends our taxes wisely? Whay do you want to send them more money when they obviously waste most of what they spend?

As for re-election I am all for ousting the old cronies who are part of the problem like Boehner and McConnel - practically anybody Republican or Democrat that has been there more than one term. I think the most courageous thing the Democrats could do is highjack the Republicans agenda and say "OK here are $447 billion in revenue cuts, now pass the bill". That would force the Republicans to be accountable then.

Your link has it's typical "libera lean".

You can see conservative Democrats turning their wheels and thinking that a vote against the jobs bill gives them distance from the President. In truth, it’s just a vote against jobs, the number one priority of the public. And it will hurt their re-election efforts rather than help them.
Considering all the things they did to help keep jobs that were still lost, I've got little faith in the bill.

Besides, there's an easier way to do this without resorting to more spending:

Jindal also has signed House Bill 646 by Rep. Kirk Talbot, R-River Ridge, that requires private businesses to use the same "E-Verify" system as one means to check the status of workers or face fines for each illegal immigrant employed.
And:

The terms of the law will apply to contracts entered into or projects bid as of Jan. 1.

Talbot's bill cleared the House calling for the suspension of a business permit or license if a company was caught hiring illegal immigrants on a second violation.

The Senate changed it to a third offense and the period of the suspension was shortened from not less than six months to not less than 30 days or more than six months in the final version.
The thing is that this will effect a lot of offshore and shipyard businesses. Up to 6 months suspension of license? It's a death sentence for all but a few corporations. The immigrant workers no on a visa will go home, and there will be more available jobs for American citizens in the shipyards. I'm not talking minimum wage, I'm talking $10-15 an hour wages starting, and as skills are taught, the upper limits are $20-40 an hour. Here. (By the way, if this interests anyone, get a google phone number that links to a google email, and contact some shipyards down here. If they're interested enough, they'll help you get down here, and there's other groups who would help you, like some local churches (local to you, and to Louisiana).)

There is some negative aspects to these types of laws. In Alabama, because there plain is not enough people to hire for tomato harvests (due to anti-illegal laws put in place), the tomatoes are rotting on the vine. How many unemployed would harvest for a season, if they could be bussed in and back home? Here, calling such laws dumb. pages of similar reports

No actually, i am not a liberal, I am however a graduate of west point, prior combat army officer, spent the better part of a decade as a small business owner and engineer....I speak from experience with the 1%. I am not talking about the self made millionaires, sorry to break it to you, but they are NOT the 1%. They are also not the powers at be, they are hard working individuals that actually can empathize with the population because they have been there. I have to say though, your rhetoric is standard right wing crap though, to assume I am looking for a handout......My house was just sold in foreclosure, and even though I have an engineering degree, I would accept any job I could find, and will not accept any government assistance because I feel it is not for me. So try again with your random ignorant Fox news assumptions and move on, because I am not a young liberal college kid looking for an easy ride....I will put my resume against yours any day, and will promise you, I have worked harder, longer, and in worse environments than you could imagine. I am neither party, I look at each situation and value the pros and cons of the situation to make an informed decision, do you?

ps....I did notice that you tried to make this about the well off and the common man.....it has never been about the that.....'We' don't care if you have money or not...it is about Us and the People that have screwed up this country. Please try to get your head around the actually issue instead of manipulating it to your ends.....

Hrm... here's a brilliant idea. Why don't we nut up and cut loose from Iraq and Afghanistan?

Sure would free up some much needed money, don't you agree? (And let's be perfectly honest here - we're well past the point of getting any meaningful returns on those little adventures. Let the locals kill each other for 5-10 years, i don't care).

Agreed, you know we could have given every family in america a million dollars, still not cost the tax payers a fraction of what we spent and our boys and girls would still be around to hold their kids.....what have we gained from ten years of war, and that comes from an old soldier? I understand the necessity of war, and have no issue with it, but there has to be an end goal.

Hell, we could have paid off everyone's mortgage, and still not have had a fraction of the cost of ten years of war, but boy the stresses in this country would be so much different....Really, think about it in your own life....You might not enjoy your job, but how much happier would you be if you didnt have to worry about that one bill? But then that would have been a 'hand-out' that we just shouldn't do, because handing anyone anything for any reason is just wrong....and we never handout money to anyone......
