$o rude, you know, the loudness

its like they feel empowered blasting int out of their vehicle for the whole block to hear their poor excuse for 'music'

drivers should be shot on sight whenever over a certain noise limit.

I invite people to experience a real audiophile system. Yes, some people are nuts, and many products are overpriced placebos, but plenty aren't. Note that cables and other dubious tweaks are pushed heavily by the industry because they have high profit margins, and otherwise the stereo industry outside luxury Asia is doing poorly financially. Ignore them.

What never ceases to amaze me is the amount of time and money people spend on their setups to achieve satisfaction yet completely neglect the room itself. You end up with this rather pretty looking setup in a room that sounds like complete garbage

not sure if this actually falls under this thread or another, but the specs of some of these units..... Like in one stage, before Class D & G amps became popular, some manufacturers were citing their units to be like in 1000W (yet the PSU consited out of a transformer that gave out something like 12V @ 1A), and maybe 2x4700uf capacitors.... that always freaked me out, and I've always tried to find out exactly what they were measuring, but I always failed.

The main difference between cat3 and cat5 cable is the twists in the wire allowing bigger bandwidth. And we are talking 10 mb/s to 100 mb/s, and HDMI 1.0 was 4.something Gb/s with 1.3 being 10.2 Gb/s. Those are such a drastic difference there is really no comparison between them.

I am going to have to disagree with you on this. Yes, there is an increase in throughput, but there is also a significant reduction in interference. I don't know this from an audiophile perspective, but rather from a computing perspective. Cat3 is a standard phone line - what you would connect your phone to the wall with. Cat5 is a standard ethernet cable, less susceptible to interference, and able to carry more data because of that. (Cat6 is even better).

Now, can the human ear tell the difference? I probably can't because I don't care enough, but there is a difference and this is proven by through networking basics.
