Times are definitely changing. I haven't heard about anything this great since that video of the chubby kid slamming the skinny bully into the ground.

Parents everywhere need to wake up. Teach your kids not to be obnoxious brats. The world is tired of dealing with them.

Right cause every time someone goes outside there is such a STRONG possibility that they will be beaten or raped...

I never said that..but in some neighborhoods the possibilities of such things happening, not to mention the indoctrination to drugs is obviously there. It isn't safe outside for many children today..plain and simple....even the possibilities of accidentally being poked by a used diseased needle in the playground, can be highly likely.

I wish nowadays was like back in the day when if you got beat at school you deserved it, and your parents didn't battle the teacher's disciplinary action.

Not sure what old school you went to , but I'm old enough to know that back in the day, there were some very disgusting disciplinary actions taken by teachers, and it was unfortunate that parents didn't do more to prevent it, and kids were too scared to talk about it.

Families were tightly woven units of support. No one is as sue happy as they are in this day... Everyone sues everyone else for every little thing anymore. Even inside their own families...

Families have been and continue to be dysfunctional.. some worse than others.. this is a fact of life that has been happening for eons.

Many family members did not feel like they were in tight units of support, but were "scared" into doing as they were told, no matter how wrong or right they felt it was. Thank god children now feel the right to address some of the disciplinary actions taken at school. Some go way overboard.. with the suing and stuff, over petty crap.. but I saw some things in my childhood go down in classrooms done by teachers, that still make my heart ache thinking about it.

Kids are a spitting image of their parents example.

Not always..I have know some very wise young adults, who have grown up to live a life totally different than what their parents did... and that was a conscious choice because of what they experienced as a child.

I think you may generalize too much.. and trust me.. the way they did things in the past ,has had its effects on how the world is today.

That's my point. That has nothing to do with social class, and all to with JUST PLAIN LACK OF CLASS!

You have a valid point there.. but what I am saying is that for the parents who wish to keep their child busy with more fruitful and educational pastimes , need the time to do so.... and those with lots of time to home school their children, and teach them wisdom, and show them healthy ways to live and contribute to this society, often have the financial means to be able to do so.. Not everyone gets the advantages of a one income family... or having parents there to guide them and protect them when they really need it.

But ..I also realize that you can try to do this as effectively as you can , within the society you are forced to live in.

I'm really not trying to argue with you.. and I think you can see my points..and I do see the ones you are making as well.

Maybe some parents will learn from reading this thread, and toss the games out, and try to find better ways to allow their children to be occupied...or maybe they will just teach them the common sense of trying to not run their mouths off, whether it be in a video game or a soccer game, or to the kid you don't like at school.

Maybe we ALL could learn a few lessons from time to time about how to effectively vent your emotions, and present your concerns, ideas and thoughts with a little more class.

Anyhow, I sincerely wish you all the best when you do take on the responsibilities of parenting, if you should ever decide to do so...and I do mean that sincerely.

I agree with what someone on page one said. If your gonna let your kid play a 18+ game then you might as well let him go to a bar and mouth off and complain when he gets beat up... I dont agree with what this man did, not that being a gamer the thaught hasnt crossed my mind, but if parents are gonna let ther kids play adult games on the internet with other adults they should be aware of the obvious danger of letting your kids mouth off adults over the internet. Maybe now parnets might watch what there kids say and do online in games, cause being that they couldnt ban games before good luck now when the market is bigger than hollywood movies.

And if youve ever played a online game and ran into one of these mouthy 13 year olds who think thay can say what they want cause they think there will be no consequences... I think the kid probably had it comin one way or another. Your not as annonymous on the net as you think so dont be stupid.

You are joking OP, right? the kid did some online trash talk so he should be strangled? Thats not the lesson he needed at all. He needed a lesson is manners maybe but nothing else.

The real shame in this day and age is that because so much of our communication is not face to face that it gives license for people to act like trolls.

I hope the man gets some time for attacking a minor and I hope the minor learns to be nicer to people.

How do you trace some one threw a video game?

How do you get someone's IP address as a client account playing a game on a server stored in another part of the country?

You cant trace some ones IP address to a house you can only trace the area.

How about you geniuses do a little research before you activate your mememachines.

The attack came after the two had been playing Call of Duty: Black Ops. After killing him in the game, the boy then proceeded to call the 46-year old names which caused the man to “just lose it.” The two were acquainted through the boy’s parents, and Bradford knew that he was playing at a nearby friend’s house.

DERP! That's how he found the kid, he didn't "track" him down, they were acquainted through the boy's parents. HERP!

“He went on and on and I just lost it. I hold my hands up, I lost the plot. In a moment of madness I went round to his house. I didn’t know what I was going to do. It wasn’t malice. I just grabbed him. I’ve seen him since and apologized. We’ve played online too. He’s actually a decent kid.”

Moral of the Story: U mad Bro? THEN GET SKILL

**baiting noted**

Agreed..this adult has an anger control problem, but calling this an attack and making it sound vicious is silly.

He grabbed the kid. Pretty psycho of him...but that's all he did, "according to the kid"

The boy, who legally cannot be identified, recounted the attack, “I was just sat playing. We’d had a bit of a joke and then he stormed in and grabbed me. I didn’t know what was going on.” The courts will review Bradford’s mental health history before passing sentencing on October 24

lol...video games with 17 flags was tweeted. What's the algorithm for determining tweet-worthy-ness, or is it random lotto ran by a hamster in a cage, occasionally picking a number based on...

our society is funny. you can bully someone to suicide and probably get away with it, but you throw one punch, and your ass is going to jail.

you can cause someone alot of pain with words and fists, but only fists will get you in trouble.

Wow any gamers here on ATS? Who thinks the kid needed to learn a lesson?

What a great example to teach those punks to learn how to respect others. The internet is not some kind of filter that makes slander and insults any different to saying them in person.

My room-mate talks trash so much in CoD black ops, but no, I don't think he should get his butt kicked for it. The fact of the matter is, people do talk more trash behind a keyboard or telephone... people should just learn to deal with it, let it roll off their shoulder.

I know for a fact that you can mute people in 'in game chat' in Black ops, thats one option. You can always leave the game and play in another one, theres another option. You can also ask yourself why you would let someone bother you so much over a video game that you would spend the time to track and hunt them down across the country instead of just cooling off.

I think the grown man tracking and hunting down a trash talking 13 year old is the real problem here...
I'm pretty sure you missed the entire point of the article.

I guarantee you the reason people kill themselves over someone talking trash to them roots a lot deeper than simply having taken a verbal beating...

If you can't deal with someone trash talking you, its because you have no idea who you are and fear they might be right. If you know who you are and what your about, why would anything anyone says every bother you, especially to the point of suicide (or to the likes of this idiot in the OP)?
Thats the real problem with our society, not that people are trash talking.... thats gone on forever.

So I'll say it again;
IF YOU CAN'T DEAL WITH SOMEONE TRASH TALKING YOU ITS BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE...
and thats a much larger problem caused by our society than people talking trash over the internet... in fact, its probably why people do talk so much trash on it.

Man Attacked 13-Year-Old Who Killed Him in Call of Duty

A 46-year-old British man tracked down and attacked a 13-year-old schoolboy who killed him in Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The story, posted on wownews reports, Mark Bradford, 46, admitted he “just lost it” after a 13-year-old opponent killed his character in Call of Duty: Black Ops, and then proceeded to talk trash over the in-game chat.

According to a report given to the Plymouth Court, the unemployed father of three then tracked the teen down in Plymouth, Devon (UK) and attacked him, attempting to strangle him. The boy’s mother managed to pull Bradford off her son, and the man left without explanation.

You'd think he would have better things to do like go look for a job instead of playing video games. At the least he should be learning some new skills for a new job instead of f'n around.

Hmmmm. This is the classic, "2 wrongs don't make a right". The question is, which person was more immature?
This isn't politically correct, and I apologize in advance ( and yes, I am the parent of a well-adjusted daughter who's in college ), but, on some level I think this is a good lesson for the kid on multiple levels. He was acting like a punk and talking s***, and he found out that you can't go around doing that because there are crazy people out there who will call you out on your BS and hurt you.

The "adult" in this situation? Well, he needs some serious psychological treatment, and he deserves any legal consequences he recieves. If I had been the parent of the kid, the tables would have turned quickly, of course, with a much different outcome.

Personally, I blame Satan. People aren't even responsible for their own actions. It's Satans fault, and we should ban all video games, rock music and hip hop, and any movies which don't portray wholesome Disney values. Wait a second. Disney is tolerant, and even supportive of gay people. Ban them too. The only form of entertainment we need is the 700 Club.

a punch won't kill you either, but it's punishable by law.

my whole point is that pain is pain, and if you dish it out, you better be prepared to receive some. trash talking and putting people down causes more pain to people than physical altercations in our society, yet its taboo to reciprocate physically. its illogical.

all media should be accessible to everybody. controlling media is a form of social control and should be abolished. the german national socialists during adolf hitlers reign controlled media abolished religion and all other aspects of freedom and independence. i personally think that necessary parental media control should be in the home and away from media itself. on several educational channels jonestown, the sharon tate murders, ruby ridge, waco texas, and all sorts of violent acts are displayed. so after seeing mass suicides, disfiguration, dismemberment, murder, is allowed on television but a single nipple is going to damage somebodys psyche. it is not satan at work here it's monopoly at work here. with the current issue back at hand, a flaming bag at a doorstep would be less traceable then a beatdown. key the parents car with obscenity perhaps? cannibalism would have less evidence than mere assault

Pfft, please. By that same logic, the 13 year old brat should be in school or doing homework or studying instead of "f'n around" on xbox--harrassing people to the point they become nearly murderous. Ya think?
