I take exception to your SINGLE=LOOSER, i am a call of duty gamer, in my forties and single, very happily divorced twice. Just because i am single and happily single that makes one a looser huh? What a idiotic statement to make!

There are a lot of gobby kids out there on the online gaming circuit, i actually got into a argument with one kid, although i didn't know his age or sex but we decided to take our argument to skype or msn messenger cant remember which one now and to let all the other gamers get on and enjoy their game without having to hear our slanging match. Turns out when we got chatting on messenger we got on very well and agreed to disagree and went on to create our own CS clan with his tactics and mine we where a formidable clan on the CS servers, yeah this is going back a few years but at end of day its only a game its not real, if you lose you lose, so what, makes you more determined to come back and up your game playing skills.

There will always be oddballs, loonie tunes & freaks that ruin the community for others and to be honest this chap needs locking up not just for others protection but for his own mental well being, he needs to step back and realise IT AINT REAL, ITS A GAME, WIN OR LOSE ITS THERE FOR FUN!

Anyways hello all, been here for years lurking and enjoying this site although had to create a new account not so long ago as my old i forgot all my details as i never posted or bother to login and just read read read read lol
So this is my first post in many years of lurking.

Cheers Guys & Gals have a great day and enjoy

o.O

Unbelievable.

I bet this guy was the same kind of guy that would say, "News Flash: Video games aren't real!"

It's as though they say it to reassure themselves! Ok, maybe I'm stretching it a bit.

But... If they have to say "Video games aren't real!" to someone then doesn't that suggest they think it's plausible that some people think they're real? Where did they get that idea???? That's like saying "The earth is round!" Who, in their right mind, thinks that the earth being flat is even thinkable? Why does anybody have to be reminded that video games aren't real?

Unless, of course, they have played and reacted to games too seriously, once or twice....

Which makes me think.... About people who complain that games shouldn't have violence or sex themes because they think it will turn us all into violent rapists. Could it be that these kinds of people have difficulty separating fantasy from reality and THAT is why they fear sex or violence being in games? Maybe they personally know how dangerous mixing fantasy and reality is!

I love all the trash talking about this 13-yr old or how it's bad parenting because he played a game meant for 18+. Did he deserve to be hunted down in real life and savagely attacked for being a better player a video game then some middle aged jackass?

Jobless father of three Bradford confronted the youngster at an address in Plymouth, Devon (UK), and started to strangle him, Plymouth Magistrates Court was told.

Meanwhile, a JOBLESS father of three spends his time playing video games and beating up on children. Yeah, let's blame the 13-yr old's parents.

Nobody wants to pay over $300 for a system, $70 for a game, $15 for a download only to have their [gaming experience] ruined...

Of course not. (I would like to research this, and maybe make a thread of it - Top Reasons People Quit - or something. Could be quite interesting. But, I divert.)

This, in my opinion, is one of the top reasons why people stop playing games. Basically I feel that the game experience varies depending on if you play any game during or after the 12-year-old curfew.

Though nowadays, I am not to sure if they have curfews or parents anymore. This, my friend, is the main reason I don't pay-to-play games anymore. Yay STEAM and free-to-play downloads!!

..being a video game veteren I can understand why this would happen.

The kid should not have talked trash. He would not talk smack to the adults face.
The kid should not have been playing due to the age guideline tag.
The man should not have attacked the kid.

I was brought up having respect for adults in their finite wisdom..

Sometimes I have no patience with children because they lack experience wisdom and empathy.
The kid needs to learn control. How can people learn control in a violent video game
which puts him in a virtual world where he can behave as he wishes and have no repercussions
for his actions?

Video games mask evil.
They are ok in moderation but they can control you and that is what they are desinged to do in a lot of cases.

This afternoon I am going to watch Buffalo Bills play Cincinnati Bengals on television. I was invited to watch the game with an elderly lady from Buffalo who is one of their biggest fans. Already she has been trash talking Cincinnati and has worn her Buffalo Bills earrings and jacket this entire weekend.

Do I take it serious enough to get angry over? No. I know that trash talk is just that, talk. It means nothing.

There is no mods on xbox live you can submit player review witch is useless. Other than that nothing will happen. Xbox live has millions of members its not like a forum.

So your problem is not the violence rather the age difference...seen as you would like to see him beaten. Kind of letting your emotions get the better of you, like someone we know ay. But would these kids talk shi* to that guy face to face in the street. For me personally if a kid taunts an older man in the street like on xbox live they deserve a slap. Now I know a lllot of grown men who wouldn't stand for it face to face...nearly all of them actually.

So all this man is guilty is keeping his word....NOW IS THAT SO BAD

What I've learned from this thread is that you should have some IP switching device, a proxy and be using only Https everywhere if you are going to play in forums or anywhere on-line where you interact with other users!

That man has some severe psychological issues.
Anything could trigger him.
He's a ticking time bomb!

Teenagers brains are still developing their ability to have empathy, to multi-task, to have control, etc. Video games are probably just an outlet for their conflict they feel. Not the cause.

Growing pains, sir. Outside video games, there're plenty of ways for teenagers to get into trouble and exhibit every characteristic they do in games. Isn't it better that they're rough housing in a game rather than in a mall, or an alley, or somewhere else where people can actually get hurt from their careless actions?

Don't put all yoru eggs in one basket. Kids can use computers both in good ways and in bad ways. Computers are not always bad, whether you use them for 2 hours or 6 or 8. The vast majority of games are a waste of time, just like loitering in the parking lot or trespassing onto government land to find your secret fishing hole. Bottom line, we can do bad no matter what avenue we pursue in life. Because some newspapers choose to be sensationalist and dumb down their articles, does that mean we should burn all newspapers? Similarly, just because some people use computers the wrong way, doesn't mean we should burn computers.

Many people work with computers for 8 hours, 10 hours even. 5 or 6 days a week. Should they burn their computer? No, of course not. They're being productive and use it professionally.

Games are going to start coming out that both educate and produce work. When this happens, I wonder how people will respond to it? I am anticipating lots of confusion about it. But it's still better to use a computer to better yourself, as opposed to using them for entertainment alone. But games don't have to be a complete waste of time. A few of them are producing real science. Some schools even use specially-made games to augment their course work. It's a beginning.

Don't know about you but if I knew the other player was more than triple my age younger or the equivalent of my shoe size, I would not be speaking with them about anything.

Suuuuure kill me, kill my pixel character avatar!!! Then leave me alone. Oh, you won't? Got nothing nice to say? Hello? Is there a GAME MASTER in the house, this twit is driving me bonkers and I don't have to STAND or PAY for this. Cause it ain't my cup of tea. Translation: I'm not having fun, so you won't get my money. BTW, I think this kid is 10. KK Thanks Bye!!

All parties involved have been blamed in the thread thus far.

Trash talking...

Everybody's talking trash these days, so why not keep quiet?

I have found little that is "good" about human beings on the whole. In my experience most of them are trash, no matter whether they publicly subscribe to this or that ethical doctrine or to none at all. That is something that you cannot say aloud, or perhaps even think.

We are not special. We are not crap or trash, either. We just are. We just are, and what happens just happens.

No GM's? Dang! There you have it. I will never get X Box Live.

But I dare say, many people do not keep their word. Ever. Trash talking included. Follow through in this day and age is horrendous with anything and everything. The fact that this man did follow through in what he said he'd do is a little bit terrifyingly admirable.

Though the HOW and the WHY of this follow through is completely and utterly cause for debate.

Yes, had I been in the same situation I may have just ALT+F4'd myself or maybe I would of tracked his IP. Though would I go out of my way to FIND him and then BEAT him? I don't think so. That would be more of a waste of my time than the playing of the game was to begin with.

****
I've been brought to tears playing a video game that entailed much in the arena of trash talking, so I am not talking completely out of inexperience.

Kids are more apt at anything electronic nowadays. It really isn't fair. I had skippits, barbies, play houses, legos and McDonnald toys... while these squirts have ipods, ipads, iphones, AND home theaters.

What a great example to teach those punks to learn how to respect others. The internet is not some kind of filter that makes slander and insults any different to saying them in person

I'm a gamer so let me say this.
It's the internet get over it!
It's a game get over it!

You should never harm anyone just because they are better at a game and talk junk about it. Really? What is this world coming to? What is his mother had a gun? That dad of 3 would be dead because he got "net-mad"?

I don't know about that my friend. I'm a 36 year old gamer and I still dominate the vast majority of people online if it's a game that I invest the time into. Obviously your reactions slow a little but not enough to make a huge difference.

Anyway, back on topic: The man was clearly in the wrong and I wouldn't be surprised if he got some jail time and deservedly so. However, that does not mean that there isn't a valuable life lesson to be learned here for the smart mouthed kid. For his sake I hope that he reigns it in a bit and treats people with a little more respect.

Call of duty Black OPs is rated 18+ why would the mother allow a 13 year old to play a mature rated game?

edit on 1-10-2011 by Agent_USA_Supporter because: (no reason given)

Have you ever played it? 95% the people using microphones are under 15, guaranteed. All I ever hear are these little kiddie voices. BTW, I regularly kick their asses, too, and I am no spring chicken.

What?

It's a game. If you can't play it like a sport, then don't. Before you really hurt somebody. If you have a kid, this will never be acceptable. POV differs a lot in people. Nevertheless, nobody deserves to die because of trash ttalk. Try something else, like create your own witty repertoire so you don't loose it when you lose.

Better than that would be to get better at the game so you don't lose.

Just curious.. if it was your child... and you read some of the very offensive stuff the child posted...how would you react to that ?

Did you read some of the stuff he said? Just curious as a parent how you might deal with that..
