The REAL danger of 2012

I am not a 2012 believer. I don't think that the world will end or there will be some great shift in our society or whatever. That said, I am concerned about 2012.

My specific concern is this: some jackass terrorist organization pulls off multiple major attacks on December 21, 2012. Imagine: a giant bomb goes off in downtown Manhattan. People are panicking. Then someone (who is on the fence about 2012) gets a call from their cousin in Chicago, telling them that a bomb just went off in downtown Chicago. Result: mass panic, and way more collateral damage.

Do you think this is likely? How big would the actual attack have to be to cause amplified mass panic? What sort of chaos would ensue?

As far as dirty nukes going off around the country?? I would say very unlikely...

That being said, is it just me, or does your avatar look like a weiner?

Interesting take for sure, and I could see something like that happening. What I think would really compound the panic and take it to true s*** hitting the fan levels, is if all communications were down. Cell phone, internet, and landlines, all down. Then, you can’t get the call from your cousin in another city or state, and you would be at the mercy of what is happening right there in front of you, and not have any kind of reassurance that this isn’t happening all over the country or world. That would really add to it, and send it over the top.

But what would it take to so cripple our communications?

Also, I'm not thinking dirty bombs. The goal would be to cause immediate panic - conventional explosives will do just fine.

You raise some valid points there OP. However, are we really gonna go down this "terrorist organisation" route, and buy into the terrorist propaganda BS? We shouldn't automatically assume that explosives suddenly going off, when it hits December 21st 2012, will be purely down to Al-Quaida, or another organisation.

But I see what you mean, and where you're going with this.

As for me, I believe something will happen in 2012, and see that as being a pivotal year and one that the elite may take advantage of due to the world-wide primed expectation of a major event.

I dont think they would wait until then. And whats with all the avatar envy? If I in the wrong forum?
