at the moment, those are the 3 main culprits i would have in mind

1) genuine meteor/ite

2) NASA's UARS debris

3) RUSSIA's M67 reentry

since it just happened a few hours ago, it's taking a while to get some scientific statements.

any scientists on here? theories so far??

UARS is scattered across the Pacific and some parts in Canada last I heard, so you can cross that one off.

My bet is on a meteorite or gas explosion. I can't really tell.

That second video is from 2009 by the way. It says this in the description:

This impressive phenomenon occured on Sunday, September 27th 2009 and was seen from points as distant as the Chilean city of Temuco and Mar del Plata on the Atlantic Ocean.

Here is another story from 2009 with a similar picture to confirm it:

Cosmic shock and awe: Fireball explodes over Argentina

I was watching the clean up crew live via a stream and the area did not look like a gas explosion hit it.

Jajaja que bueno ver un clip de caracol TV en el foro de ATS. Thanks for sharing mate. But i donĀ“t understand why a piece of a falling satellite (if it is) has to explode that way when it hits the ground.

TV news in Europe, said last night that it was a gas explosion and the owners of the place invented the fireball from the sky story, because they had an ilegal Pizza business going on there.
Now, I wonder:

1.- The footage shown in the Spanish news, showed a bunch of big bottles of gas, standing on the ground, intact...
2.- Why, I wonder, a primetime Spanish national TV news, would pay any attention whatsoever, to a story like this?
