Is Time Warner Cable, Mindspring and/or FIOS Cable supposed to be affected by coming CME/Solar Flare

for some reason, our home in nyc doesnt have triple play

we have 2 broadband cable lines (Mindstring?) a fios line i use when in the basement for cable or net, and TWC for landline(!)

i was flipping channels before bed just now and lots of channels are blank. channels that do work, are heavily stalled and pixelated. it really sucks that even in urban areas, stuff is so vulnerable to atmospheric conditions

is it even possible these rare anomolies are due to the massive solar flares? cuz i dont recall having a problem over here since july..

I have Direct TV, and it's working just fine... I only say this because Direct TV is satellite oriented... I would say, ask someone you know who has Cable, and see if there having similar problems... or just wait for a reply from someone with Time Warner. But to answer your question... no, I don't think it's CME/Solar Flare related.

Mindspring is part of Sprint and Earthlink Both are working on my end.

I just switched from Cable to Fios last week, triple play. I didn't have that problem. All channels are sharp here in Newark, NJ.

Something was affecting our fios here in Apple Valley Ca. all weekend. The wife called Verison twice.
Before that ? No problems, I'll check and see if it's ongoing.

I've had a myriad of issues with Comcast over the past few weeks (here in Central Pennsylvania). They're also terrible when it comes to solving the problem and it's hard to tell whether it's a personal issue or an outage because they don't broadcast service interruptions very well, if at all.

Long time cablevision customer until 3 yrs ago and had to start using time warner.....hate it. Plenty of times the picture quality turns crappy, alot of blank channels going in and out...after calling many times and technicians coming over, we gave up on cable and watch whatever we want online instead.

I have been using Time Warner Cable for over 4 years now. I run a small, home based computer repair service, so I need a high speed connection. My TV cable, I should mention I still have a CRT (Picture Tube) television, and my picture has been perfect on all channels. We have had a few outages of late. I called Time Warner customer service, and they told me they were getting new servers online, and I asked them about getting a new IP address? The nice woman told me that their IP service contract was ending, and they were getting a brand new, switching IP server, which they did. My service is now faster than ever. I run Fedora 15 KDE 86_64 with Autoproxy and Modify Headers, and No-Script extensions installed.
The only thing I have noticed it the guide is not always showing what is on, some says: "To Be Announced." I am also running a Netgear modem so others in my home can use their wireless laptops from my connection.

Would an EMP Pulse affect Time Warner Cable? Sure it would, were it strong enough. We have small EMP Pulse emissions all the time, from various sources, but a big one from a Solar Flare, for instance, could knock out all communications satellites, and all electronic devices that use Transistors, instead of Tubes, which is basically everything not an Antique radio. I would say a large pulse like that would fry all Transistors, including the ones still in the factory, so it would take a long time to get it all back up and running again. Let's hope nothing like that happens.
