Solar activity in general has an influence on the orbital decay rates of satellites. That's not a coincidence.
UARS came down a bit sooner than expected because of solar activity earlier this month. That activity caused the outer atmosphere to expand a bit more than expected.

I didn't say geomagnetic activity doesn't cause power outages. I said it didn't cause the ones before the geomagnetic storm started.

Since geomagnetic activity in North America has been light, yes. Those are unrelated.

Power interruptions in Europe (and the UK) since the storming began may, or may not, be attributable to it.

why do you always support the offical story isnt it possible that all the info we are getting is distorted as not to scare the public.

I got a message saying about 2 -3 days ago that the sunspot in question let of two massive CME's but were not facing Earth could this not be mis info on their part maybe the CME was Earth bound I dont trust all of what our goverment's say.

I trust your opinion most of the time just like I do our goverment agencys but cannot trust it all the time, I feel you are correct in pouring water on the so called fire as it is more than probable that nothing will come of any CME or sun activity in our lifetime but I do not rule it out, anyway the threat is from mankind at the moment with all the current events worldwide I think we should all look closer to home.

I reside in oregon and damn if those winds arent strong.....Blew the rolling blinds off my apt. But I guess elenin cause my blinds to fall off. Im kinda annoyed at everything being to blame on a comet/asteroid/ fly by planet/ whatever they are calling it these days.

I could name a few things the darn thing isn't doing.....paying my bills(but its the cause for no jobs! LOL), caring for my car(but its the cause for the price of gas), putting food on the table(this ones a double blade cuz its causeing crop failure and the grocery stores to charge close to 2.00 for a normally .50 box of mac n cheese). Maybe it is maybe it isn't but its really stupid to think that its causing the world to end....not to mention if the government were hiding the fact the it was going to do mass distruction you think they would keep us cuz you think obama wants to go back to HIS GRASSROOTS. highly doubt it.

Below is a link to real time magnetosphere conditions, to include plasma temperature, pressure, etc. We're currently getting SLAMMED! I would recommend that everyone unplug any sensitive or expensive electronics from your power source ASAP to minimize EMP damage. Keep an eye on this folks. I think they're forecasting tomorrow to be worse.
