I have a Motorola Driod (first droid) under verizon's service and have had nothing but issues with it for the last three days. At first the touch screen was touchy and was pulling up applications that I wasn't intending to open. Then today it went completely nuts. While trying to open up my text message app it began pulling up google translate on its own and then was pulling contacts out of recent call history and calling them without me being able to hang up the phone!!! WTF!?!?! It called my fiance 3 times in a matter of a minute and I eventually had to take the battery out. Has anyone else had the same issues with the Droid or is mine hacked/virus/possessed?

P.S. Not sure if I should put this in the rant forum or in the technology forum sorry mods.

P.P.S. I've tried troubleshooting after searching for similar instances online. Took battery out, removed screen protector, etc... Only thing left is to take it to Verizon. Just hoping someone on here has some advice so I could save a trip.

On a side note I have been noticing a lot of strange things going on with the electronics in our house. We have an atomic wall clock and the second hand has been rotating out of control since Friday evening and our television (Samsung) changes the channel to 1-1 on its own from time to time.

Both my personal cell and business cell have been acting up lately but not to that extent!
I've written it off to minor malfunctions caused by solar flares but honestly have no idea

If you find out anything, let us know.

I got the Lg Vortex with the Droid operating system and it has been doing similar things lately. it pulls up my guitar tuner app, pandora, and others. It mostly does it whenever my phone is tethered to my computer and im using it for internet(like right now). Also my amp for my guitar puts out feedback sounds whenever it runs things by itself.

Samsung Infuse here, but had similar problems before, and it was a new app I'd installed. Turn off all background stuff also. I also pulled my battery out to just reset for sure. Okay after that, but theres lots of skechy new apps. Gotta be careful..

AT&T has been having problems all day and yesterday (I think).. heard something about it on the radio. Wasn't paying such close attention cause I use Verizon, but I know they've been having issues and customers can't get online, etc..

After seeing that video this ticking time bomb needs to go.

I don't really download/run any apps on it. The last app I downloaded was the '11 Yahoo fantasy football app but that was weeks ago. I mainly use the internet app and as an mp3 player. I'm trying to open my music file and it keeps continuing to open my contacts list.

It is honestly hard to explain what this thing is doing. The notification bar on top slides down on its own and then gets stuck so the entire screen is useless. I really don't get it. Never had issues until now. I've taken really good care of it too. Never charged it with an aftermarket charger or anything or downloaded bogus apps. Maybe Droid doesn't like my ATS visits lmao.

Or maybe its Elenin

Just kidding

Regarding the droid. Don’t worry buddy. Two of my associates have droids. (I have a blackberry) Both associates have had the same dilemma. It appears the droid will acquire a mind of its own and start robo dialing numbers. I got a random call at 0300hrs from my associate while he was sleeping [so was I].

The droid software is Fuc$ed up. It is the droid platform that is flawed not your individual phone or its environment. Good luck. This is a very common problem

The Original Moto Droid is a peice of Crap, I have it also, and I mostly hate it.

It was my first smart phone, and it was great at first, but it only took a couple months before the problems started happening, the first of which is it constantly deletes all my text messages... No fix ever came for that, even though Google acknowledges the problem on their website.

But the phone also does "Freak Out" and do competely random things. It'll open random apps, text gibberish to random people, or call random people. It lagg up a LOT, its a pain in the ass to do a lot of things. and multi-tasking is a NO NO. Updating apps + Texting, the phone can't even handle that, it freezes up and I just pull the battery after waiting 20+ mins and it just crawling trying to catch it's breath.

Phones are of terrible quality because they want us to sign stupid new contracts every 2 years and get a new phone. It's all about that retarded contract and nothing else. Don't know why they even bother updating the firmware, the consumer is the last thing these companies care about.

My sister has been stuck with a flip phone because her Droid is just dead.

And Honestly Iphone is no better alternative, Apple Nickle and dimes you for EVERYTHING. I'm not paying $15 a month for GPS, Screw you apple.

So verizon had no answers for me. They did a reset at the store location and within 10 minutes my phone was doing the same thing. They accepted the return and mailed me the exact "like new" replacement. Lets see how well this one holds up.
