What could you use to control it and get it to retract and stop it from retracting and getting it to advance again and then stop it again and getit again to retract and keeping this going on continuously?

I am wondering if any of you can figure out a way that can stop an advancing static charge or spark and then stop it from retreating fully and repeating constantly this ? That is not simple.? I'll tell you how I would do it; I would use it as it advances to trigger a super light gate within a tunnel that is just the right size where the charge would jump accross and on it's way through this path it would close further up the path where then would retreat thus reopening the gate where would create the link again where again it would advance....this is not complicated.

The reason that I once gave this thought was because I figured that maybe if a spark was to be kept suspended; then maybe it would project a heat without consuming energy or / and loosing any properties of it's charge volume that it had initially.

This is what Tesla had really discovered which was the power of oscillating expanding and collapsing electro-magnetic fields via what is called Induction.

And hence as to how our automobile's ignition systems function by the use of an Ignition Coil generating current to create a spark via the spark plugs.

The longer the coil generates current before it collapses the longer the spark is generated and of course, vice versa.

Read and Learn about how coils function which are called Inductors symbolized by "L" in Physics.
Inductance mathematically is defined by L di/dt....which Inductance is a function of current changing over time.

And is controlled by the number of windings of the coil.

Their inverse is Capacitance and when in a parallel circuit they oppose one another. Since capacitors are a time varying device generating current which the inductor needs, you can use the capacitance as a timer of sorts to control the duration of electromagnetic field of the Inductor...and in answer to your question as to how one would "keep it hovering".

This is what is running your computer and monitor at the moment and is fundamentally how electronic circuits are timed and controlled.
