Professor Files Fed Lawsuit Against City of Pittsburgh for Using (LRAD) Against Protesters at G-20 S

While Piper was trying to leave the protest, without warning the police activated a LRAD a short distance away from her. She immediately became nauseous and dizzy, and felt fluid flowing from her ear.

"The intensity of being hit at close range by a high-pitched sound blast designed to deter pirate boats and terrorists at least a quarter mile away is indescribable," said Piper, now an English professor at the University of Missouri.

"The sound vibrates through you and causes pain throughout your body, not only in the ears. I thought I might die. It is shocking that the LRAD device is being promoted for use on American citizens and the general public."

Since then, Piper has suffered from permanent nerve damage, tinnitus, barotrauma, left ear pain and fluid drainage, dizziness, and nausea.

It makes me sick to my stomach, to see police using this kind of a weapon against innocent protesters. Who knows where this lawsuit will go, but we need many more just like it. The fashion in which protesters in this country are being treated by law enforcement is getting worse by the day. We should be able to protest something such as the G-20 Summit without fear of permanent, long term damage. We cannot simply let law enforcement continue to abuse their authority and hurt/injure citizens when our basic right to protest is protected by the constitution. Well, at least it once was.

Thoughts for future protests, parties, riots, gathering of more than three. Bring disposable ear plugs to protect your ears from direct energy weapons.....if expected to be blasted by said weapon....bring a spare satellite disc...

Just wait until they start using the Microwave guns on home turf. It seems to work well for "crowed control" aka making "terrorists" nice and crispy.

It's scary to think the steps the government might take to break up protests in the future, if stuff like this isn't challenged in court.

And why aren't more people interested in something like this? Is everyone comfortable with police using (LRAD), a weapon meant to dither pirate attacks at sea, on innocent protesters, at close distance?
