No it does not make you a bad person. I actually believe we need them in our sociaty.(msp) those that lack empathy. They can have the balls to be the driving force of change.

You mentioned earlier that you took the PCL-R tests and came up "psycho". That test is a bit short-sighted and could possibly encompass other conditions that are not psychopathic nor dangerous. I do not fit any of those factors yet I am regarded as "insane" by many people (especially my adoring wife, who loves my insane ass) and I imagine many sociopaths would only fit a couple from Factor 1 on that test.

But, no matter what you are, it's just one more way of being. Being dangerous is the only factor that should be considered when considering somebody's integration into "normal" society. Even then, it's simply about precautions at that point, not exclusion.

You are concerned about what others think? That dismisses you as a "psychopath". Psychopathic personalities have no conscience, none at all.

I agree.

I sometimes wonder why I am even on these sights when people make claims such as this.

Most of the problems in our society are caused by sociopaths and psychopaths. You wouldn't believe how many of them have control over our financial and political institutions. Sorry, but you need to be separated from society until we find a cure. It may not be your fault that you are born this way, but you are a potential risk to society. If you were a true sociopath or psychopath, you would have no emotions about being separated from society.

What is your definition of a psychopath? Where did this definition come from? Is "psychopath" your actual medical diagnosis, or is it a self-applied label?

I was reading up on psychopaths recently, I forget why, but it dawned on me that my husband is possibly one as well. He feels no sympathy, no compassion. He can be cruel with his words, disregards other people's feelings and time. He cares about himself, and how other people can benefit him.
Despite the apparent psychotic traits, in essence his heart is good. He does not wrong people on purpose, much like yourself. If people get his scorn, its often their own fault according to him; they were asking for it.

What is the use of compassion? Sympathy? They make no sense when it comes to survival. In fact it can be a weakness because people will suck everything out of the kind and generous people.

But they are very important traits that should be worked on, in my opinion. It feels so wonderful to be able to help others. Makes you feel like you're an asset to the world, not just a taker. The world is a pretty nasty place, it could all change if people just cared more about the other. If everyone focused on uplifting those near them, we'd all be better off.

Like with food.. try it, you might like it!

I don't remember what my intent was for posting this thread. But I am not interested in gaining attention. I rarely ever create threads, and when I do it is usually just a news story that I thought was interesting.

I think my point in this was to point out that being a psychopath does not make someone a maniacal killer.
There point made.

I do not have the time or inclination to reply to all the posts. It's mostly just flaming anyway.
You can make of this thread whatever you want. Good day.

No, I do not feel sympathy for others. Everyone has the chance to make their own decisions.

No, I feel no remorse. Anyone I have "wronged" allowed themselves to be in that position.

I am currently active duty military.

No, I do not lie about my past. I will not speak of certain things if they serve no purpose, but making up thing also serves no purpose.

Ah ha ! Son youre not psychopathic, youre surviving.

Are you a self proclaimed psychopath ?

I was diagnosed buy a DOD Psychiatrist after completing the PCL-R checklist. I scored a 34.

So how is that you're active duty military?

You've done a lot of wiki and google searching today.....It's apparent by watching your transformation throughout the thread, from your opening post to now.....becoming what you claim to be, adjusting your lie to fit the evidence to the contrary...

You're a liar.....A narcissist and a liar...nothing more....

From what I've observed, it seems that most psychopaths are "type-A" personalities that are dialed up to 11. They'll do what it takes to get #### done. If anything or anyone is in their way, tough luck. If you're in position to be useful or on a psychopath's good side, then enjoy the ride.

Now whether or not they're good or bad depends on what they decide to get done, and how they tend to go about doing it. I also find it ironic that some psychopathic type people do seem to want to accomplish noble goals, but the failing with the personality trait is that they may alienate and burn-out those that they drive towards the objective. Those who aren't smart with resources and micromanage too much can completely destroy morale. Still they'll never be as bad as those who obtain leadership and effectively manage to rally masses towards evil ends.

You may be flawed. (Pretty much everyone is though. I know I am.) But your actions are what determines whether you may be good or evil.

Still, the thing that's notable about them is psychopaths do tend to show up a lot in history books.

Your not a psychopath. I can tell by your first post alone. Too thoughtful and no lack of empathy or a hint of Sociopathic tendencies. Your just as normal as the rest of us. Everyone wants to be special. Try star child next time.

point blank, no you are not a bad person, but then again what i think is a bad another person might find acceptable, it is all point of view. plain and simple, and people ARE NOT ALL THE SAME, one psychopath may be nice while another might be mean, Psychopath is a lable and the world would be a better place if people stopped thinking about it. lets say 100 people sya you are not a bad person, and 4 people say you are. who gives a damn, people can screw themselves up all on there own, they dont need to let others help them along, follow your own advice, sit back and let yourself self destruct, only then will you be free
