Depends. Actions make you a bad person. If you're running around consciously doing everything in your power to take advantage of people or attempting to manipulate them for your own amusement, then, yes, you are a bad person.

I guess you're actually a true psychopath since you just don't have a use for people. It seems to me that manipulating people for one's own amusement would be born out of insecurity or stupidity.

I don't think you're a psychopath. Though, I am certainly no psychologist or psychiatric doctor. It's not that psychopaths don't have feelings.. it's the kind of feelings they lack and others they embrace. I find the show "Dexter," to have an excellent illustration of this.

Similarly, a true psychopath strives to convince others he/she is "normal," so they don't catch on to their obvious "flaws." They do this to exist in society where they find they are excellent manipulators. To manipulate in such a fashion, you need to know how to fake particular emotions and understand other emotions in the logical sense in which brings them about.

This gives them an unalienable edge other the vast population and furthers their benefit. The last thing a psychopath wants is other people to know he/she is a psychopath. Which leads me to believe you're most definitely not a psychopath.. maybe just a troubled person, not unlike the rest of us at some point.

this thread seems like a cry for attention more than anything..

Why would you ask if you are a bad person when you tell us how all Psychopaths are not murderous, and do in fact have feelings.

I feel as though this thread is one, to gain attention to yourself (Which i don't think psychopaths would really want) and two, which would be different from number one, you want us or someone specific to know being a psycopath isn't a bad thing. As if someone didn't like you or thought you were being a bad person due to the fact you are a psycopath. As if it's a rant, without bias or anger.

You're not a bad person. You already know this.

Well, one answer to your statement is that I am intoxicated. Another answer is that there is a stigma perpetrated by the National media that all psychopaths are serial killers,(which is not the case).

Now, whether I am a bad person or not? Perhaps I should not have put that in the OP. I think being good or bad is irrelevant. I do not think I am either. I like to believe. I ( and other psychopaths) just are. Like nature, We just exist.. For good or ill.

Dude you should refrain from starting threads when you are intoxicated!! LMBO Maybe you are just a psychopath when you are intoxicated I have met many people like that and add myself to that category!!!!

Have you been diagnosed as a Psychopath by a qualified and certified Doctor? Have you ever pooped in your hand and drawn pictures on a window or wall with it? If your answer is "no" to either one of those questions then you are not a true Psychopath, but you might be a liberal, which is almost the same thing. I always enjoy reading self indulgent, attention seeking posts such as this one.

If you have no remorse for your actions you are a psychopath. If you ask people to tell you if you are bad or not then, if there is no payoff, you are not a psychopath. It is all about the guilt and remorse.

Contrary to popular belief, psychopaths do in fact have feelings. They are just not the same as you have. I get angry, but my anger is slow to burn and is easily extinguished. Now being a psychopath I am ruled by my ability to reason. For example, I find myself unable believe in something I can cannot see or measure in a quantifiable way.

I have my doubts that you are a psychopath as you seem to have a very limited understanding of what that is. Psychopaths are not known to be able to reason or use logic any better than normal people. Psychopaths simply have no empathy...that means they are incapable of feeling empathy for anyone.

If I had to take a guess, then it would be that if anything you sound more like a sufferer from asperger's syndrome which is a mild form of autism. Now an asperger's sufferer often has difficulty understanding other's emotions and therefore don't always show empathy at the correct times, but this is quite different than being unable to feel empathy at all...If you truly felt no empathy then you could care less whether you were a "bad person" in the eyes of others.

Of course there may be nothing wrong with you at all, and this is simply an attempt at getting some attention.

Are psychopaths bad people? Generally yes. Some say a psychopath is the embodiment of pure evil. One common misconception is that psychopaths are all serial killers, which is completely untrue, and I think there's some sort of conspiracy behind that. The majority of psychopaths don't commit violent crimes. However, nobody really knows how a psychopath comes into existence; it's not related to genetics, or upbringing. Children who are raised by loving parents in a good environment are predisposed to the abnormality of psychopathy and there's nothing that could be done to stop it.

The reason a psychopath is considered "evil" is because they're Machiavellian by nature. Morals don't mean anything to them, but they'll adhere to societys concept of morality simply to get along and fit in. Some completely let go and this is when one might turn to constant murder/sadism. It's because they get a chemical rush out of doing so, a drug of sorts. All psychopaths have NO remorse, regardless of the extreme. For example one could torture and kill a thousand babies and not feel anything during or afterwards. No empathy. Just complete self-indulgence. They've been called a predatory intraspecies.

Anyway, there are 5 key traits that every psychopath has; and if you have all 5 you're without a shadow of a doubt, a psychopath.

In most societies, "good" is generally seen as anything that either helps or at least doesn't hinder anybody else's ability to form peaceful family groups and raise healthy children. So as long as people around you are able to peacefully raise children, it's all cool.

i believe that pyschopaths have an ability to see the world for what it is but our system of language and society makes it impossible for them to express it

I agree with you 100%. I am able to observe what is going on in this world without any bias. And in my opinion, the
"average Joe" is screwed.

Why is the average joe screwed?

You may or may not be a psychopath.

If you are genuinely concerned about whether or not we think you are a bad person, then it's a fairly safe bet that you're not a psychopath. A real psychopath would not care about other people's opinions on that score at all.

On the other hand, something that a real psychopath most certainly *would* do, is try to pretend that he cares about whether other people think he's a bad person or not, in order to try and convince them that he's not a psychopath, in order to use that as a basis for manipulation.

You might also be someone with the psychopath's usual inability to experience empathy, but also for some reason, just not necessarily experience any huge motivation to behave in ways which harm others. I'm inclined to believe that that probably is possible. Psychopaths probably do still experience an instinct for self-preservation, and if they are truly intelligent, would likely be able to figure out that assisting others can benefit their own survival, even if they don't experience emotional empathy as such.

While doctors may have told you that you're a psychopath I would honestly disagree. Many seem to love the idea of being a psychopath yet they have no true understanding of what it's like to be one. The media puts psychopaths on this pedestal with all the movies, stories, music, and news articles that are shoved down our throats. The true psychopaths are indifferent to all life, they fake their emotions to fit in so others don't see who they really are, quite often they relish in others' pain it becomes a drug to them. They tend not to be anti-social as that is detrimental to the way they use and abuse people. They tend to be people smart able to tell whom is easier to prey on and whom isn't. The few redeeming qualities they have are just fake, just another ploy to make themselves appear normal to the common observer. While one doctor may have diagnosed you that based off some of their tests there is a lot more that goes into determining whether one is a psychopath or not and based off your posts odds are there may be a personality disorder, but a psychopath I think not. When you've stared into the eyes of a psychopath you may no longer think of them the way you currently are.

I wonder if you are confused with sociopaths.

Link: Definition of Psychopath

Psychopath - a person afflicted with a personality disorder characterized by a tendency to commit antisocial and sometimes violent acts and a failure to feel guilt for such acts

Link: Definition of Sociopath

Sociopath - a person, as a psychopathic personality, whose behavior is antisocial and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience.

Both do become violent and murderous.

Honestly, if you were truly a psychopath you wouldn't apologize for not being clear. Unless, of course, you're trying to snow us, which is also a psychopathic trait. Psychopaths are not trustworthy. If you truly are one, and not just a troll, people, when they find this out, won't have anything to do with you.

Ahh, but who is to say that anyone will ever know?

I'm afraid the only defense a psychopath ever has is subversiveness.

I see this mistake most often.Being a bad person does not make you a psychopath.Neither does disagreeing with someone. The problem with it is that when you call someone that and there not they just give you a whole lot more of false fuel for the accusations.

I haven't read the entire thread to know if you're still active military or not.

But, if you are you should maybe try to get on some black operation projects. I hear they like to hire psychopaths.

It seems that psychopaths enjoy the privy information (though what you find out usually doesn't go beyond the information that it takes to complete your job description). And they have a tendency to keep the information to themselves.

Though, you may have blown your chances just by posting on this forum.
