Spider Help

A friend of mine found this in her basement today, and can't figure out what kind of Spider it is. I'm a lover of Spiders myself but I've never seen one of these. Someone here must know?

Looks like they just call them Garden Spiders...there has to be an actual name though.

Well that's no fun.

Someone should go around giving Spiders cooler names.

Looks like the black house spider Tegenaria domestica, it can be brown or black.

looks like a "ground spider" to me.

nothing to worry about most likly, though how big is that accross approx?

She says it's the size of a Plum.

As long as you don't have brown recluse spiders you are OK.

you really should have included something in the picture to show scale.
