That is a good example of the MSM hyping something that turned out to be a non event.

Elenin is an event being hyped by the public through social network channels.

The MSM seems to be avoiding Elenin like the plague.

A previous poster mentions he, and there everyone else, couldn't connect these points. Well that previous poster should think again. It's easy to connect these points, 10 more so than 11.

You believe there is something mysterious about X1 Elenin. You believe the MSM are ignoring it. You believe it is going to somehow affect/impact earth. That is obvious from your post. It is impossible to have such beliefs and not have any anxiety about it at all.

I don't believe that the MSM are ignoring it, I know they are. I think there is a possibility that it could effect the earth, I do not know for sure. I am not anxious about it because I DO pray to my God and he gives me the peace that surpasses all understanding.

The problem here is that Terral Croft puts too much faith in New Media for his hoaxing. The reason why Camping's May 21st prediction got the coverage that it did was because, unlike Terral, he raised enough money to purchase space on billboards. Billboards all over the world, I might add. The first part of your question is the correct answer: the internet is full of crazies, that's why mainstream journalists tend to ignore it. When a crazy gets up the scratch to buy billboard space around the planet it becomes newsworthy. The story was not that the world was ending on May 21st, of course. The story was that some crazy was able to buy advertising space in Moscow! And that other people were crazy enough to believe him. Everyone had a huge laugh. (Except for Reverend Camping and the followers who destroyed their lives by acting on his prophecy.)

I suspect that as "the day" draws near, we will find humorous interviews with believers sandwiched between clips of squirrels on water skis and singing cats at the end of local news broadcasts. Hopefully, we won't be treated to national coverage of Terral's Ozark bloodbath. Here's hoping.

Why would they evacuate the ISS if the Elenin was going to hit the Earth? I'd be much more excited to watch the destruction of the Earth from space than on the ground - pretty fireworks! Why would they have a massive need to save astronauts during the end of the world? If the world is obliterated by Elenin, what good is a dude in a spacesuit that can't get in space?

NASA issued a family preparedness warning to employees? Ha! Coming from a military background, the government issues family preparedness stuff every couple weeks. We also get constant warnings about all sorts of stuff going on and being prepared. It's nothing new, you're only connecting the dots because you're putting this factoid in conjunction with lots of other factoids that may or may not relate to each other. Remember the credible terror warning we had a few days ago for 9/11? See how that one turned out?

In the end, if it hits, big deal. Will warning others on an internet forum stop it from happening?

I personally do not believe Elenin will crash into Earth, never did.
But, already some time ago I noticed unusual silence in popular media in this. I mean, they always cling to anything that might put few more points in ratings. Incoming object with capability of decimating mankind, missing us by a hair in even solar-system scale is quite fascinating and would definitely draw some attention. And thats exactly what there were doing with Halley's and Hale-Bopp. Yet not this time. Since when death and destruction ceased to be main point of interest of media. Even nigh-impossible one. I didnt get a memo!

Now we also have social-networks, and usually if they simmer around some subject is pretty quickly picked up by media. yet not this time.

It's just seems.... illogical, taking previous occasions in account. It's not like they never mentioned it though, they did. Which seems more like effort to cover themselves if challenged with a question 'why you dont cover it'.

Thank you for this I am also freshly exmilitary and if only people knew how many family preparedness videos and meetings are made mandatory by DOD/congress/white House then that over rated NASA video would have been disregarded long ago.

No, what we have is the end of laissez-faire capitalism. We have those who benefit from this type of economy frantically trying to grab all the money they can before we finally say enough is enough. Time for new fairer economics in the hands of the many not the few.

Nuclear power is the most stupid way of boiling water ever invented. Most plants are reaching their end of life. Put both together and its about time we got rid of the stupid things.

what blackouts? There's none over here.

Comet Hartley 2 passed within 11 million miles of Earth in 2010 and a very large chunk of it came down South of Guam.

Looked like a skyscraper falling from the sky. It was a good sized chunk.

Luckily it landed in the big Pacific Ocean.


It's only a matter of time before some city/urban area gets struck. It won't be the first time, nor will it be the last.


Earth does not monitor incoming threats from space. We're too busy trying to screw other countries over with our fake financial system.


Comet Elenin showed Humanity wants a World Defense Team to monitor things in space and be ready to steer them away. .....If only the world would get along to create such an entity. You'd bet your rear our schools would get better. Kids would have something to dream about doing again.

Space...Real World Super Hero's...Astronauts...Science.

Too bad our Government doesn't see this as a good plan. They don't want other countries on a level playing field with us in space with a Joint Global Space Program.
