24 male 'slaves' rescued by police in dawn raid on Bedfordshire caravan site

www.dailymail.co. uk

Twenty four male 'slaves' have been freed from a caravan site in Bedfordshire following a dawn raid involving 100 police officers. The men are believed to have been held against their will - some for as long as 15 years - in poor conditions at the Leighton Buzzard site, and forced to work for no pay. Police said they were mostly from English and eastern European backgrounds.

Thought I would post just to highlight the fact that even in the most developed countries that slavery in its most vile form still exists.

I have heard these stories before and it never fails to shock me. From imported sex slaves to house slaves it is still a problem even here in England.

Leighton Buzzard is a very English, Home Counties place full of all the quaint typical English things. Never in a million years would I think that this sort of thing went on there as I have drove through the place.

Very shocked. Particulary that a large part of them were English..

Another story from the Daily Mail. A shame if the story is true. If.

He added that the men appeared to have been "recruited" from soup kitchens and benefits offices and included people with problems such as alcoholism.

He said: "They're recruited and told if you come here we'll pay you £80 a day, we'll look after you give you board and lodgings.

"But when they get here, their hair is cut off them, they're kept in in some cases [in] horseboxes, dog kennels and old caravans, made to work for no money, given very, very small amounts of food.

Very sad indeed what levels some people sink to
and how some humans (if you want to call them that) treat their fellow man

A quote from the BBC article

We are all slaves to a large degree. The people in the story are described as 100% slaves, whereas most of us around the world are 30% to 60% slaves. Its disgusting that we (humans) take it to any degree.

Great find....I pray frequently for people around the world living in slavery...that they might be found and set free. Good to know that there are rescue stories out there! Hopefully there will be assistance for them as they adapt and recover.

I would give lots of stars, but I can't figure out how to do it.....

Do yourself a favour & unhinge yourself from the Daily Mail.

Because if we wanted to read the Daily Mail ... we'd visit their website instead of ATS ??

I can't see the virtue in contributing to an alternative website through the medium of the parrot fashion repetition of what the MSM tells you to think.

They known about this since 2008 ,with 28 people who have made this accusation ,and they only just took action ,amazing police work ,Bedfordshire police should be made to explain themselfs over this.

Absolutely shocking.

"But in fact some people did leave and told us what was going on and when we looked back since 2008 we were aware of 28 people who had made similar accusations."

PS:I see the trolls are in force today on ATS.

The part that shocked me was that some of the slaves were of English backgrounds!

The ones that were described as Eastern European I'm speculating that they are probably Gypsy Romas. There was a scandal in my hometown last year regarding slavery and Hungarian Gypsy Romas.

Their passports were confiscated and they were confined and forced to work unpaid labour. I believe their welfare checks were confiscated too.

I would really like to hear the details of this incident as they unfold.

OP, keep us posted eh!

Click the "star icon" on the top left corner of the posting "box" just above the time and date and to the right of the avatar and poster's name. The star icon(s) will be an uncoloured star or it will be a filled in slightly bue star...click the star that is uncoloured.

Yeah, they have known for 3 years but did nothing.

Bedfordshire police at their best

Even just a suspicion should have sparked enquiries. They left them there for another 3 years to suffer.

The police should hang their heads in shame for that.

I watched the raid on the bbc, it seems that even the kids on this site were disgusting, violent ferals. God knows how these poor people were treated.

Excellent.

Now if only the police did these raids on Multinational Corporations which literally operate using slave labour (by paying them atrocious wages), the world would certainly be a better place.
