Here is what I don't like about religious views such as this.

If somebody achieves something, or lives in a "holy" way, then they have to thank god for the help, right?

But when somebody fails or does something "unholy" it is, "the Devil"

For somebody to thank God or Blame the Devil, they take all personal responsibility out of the equation. From that view point it is not hard to see how religions can cause so much suffering in the world, both in the past and the present.

Anyhow, you are suggesting that your God made a mistake.

If God did not want us to jerk off, he/she/it would have made our arms shorter so we could not reach our genitals. Are you saying that god is not perfect and made a mistake?

Why would god play such a sick game with people? Does he/she/it get enjoyment from watching people deny themselves pleasure? Sounds like a sexual sadist to me, certainly not something worth devoting a life to or worshiping.

Sorry for being dense, but is there a point to this thread other than evangelizing? I mean, I am pretty certain noone asked what devout Christians though about masturbation....

So anything to this thread aside from imposing your beliefs into someone else's life?

After all it doesn't hurt anyone. I think the moral of the story would better be explained as a parallel to healthy living. All things in moderation or as close to moderation as possible. IE; drinking, eating, exercise, jacking off...etc.

As far as lusting? I look at women as art. I love women's bodies. Each one unique and different. I love looking at women, just like some people love looking at paintings. And I have been happily married for 12 years, and I have no intentions of ever having sex with another woman but my wife, and haven't touched another woman sexually since I made a commitment to my wife.

The lesson is to be true to yourself. Live, love and enjoy yourself, but never at the expense of anyone else. Don't be so goddamn uptight!

Yes it is. If you don't masturbate you have nocturnal emissions. The body expels out excess sperm naturally without any sexual intervention.

However, nowhere does the bible mention "self-abuse" of "masturbation".

if you want everyone to live their life directly according to the words in The Bible, we will have parents killing their children for bad behavior, rapists marrying the woman they raped/victimized, people poking out eyes and cutting off limbs, etcetera.
