The article states that in a quest to have smaller and smaller spy devices, power and batteries were the big hurdle. Since they had decided to use bugs instead of small robots they couldn't find a way to get a battery on the beetle to power its remote control mind control chip. To get around the problem they have fitted a device to the bugs wings that generate electricity. This kind of thinking does scare me a little, as they could use bodily functions in new and inventive ways to power even larger devices in larger creatures.

Not too long ago a member linked a video of mind controlled beatles in action.

its very impressive, but i'd be more interested in how they control the mind of a beetle. the article just casually mentioned it like it was nothing.
or is it common knowledge these days and i'm just a bit dim?

I saw that thread, was pretty scary that they had done it to be honest because I didn't realise they were that far along with it. At least "officially"

Anyways, the idea of using the beetles wings as a power source is a good one if you thing about it. Could this lead to hand-held gadgets that can be powered/charged by the users body movements?....
