This is an 'update' from about 2 months ago (7/15) where I originally put this data into this post. I will update in another couple of months, just to see the trends.

Rick Perry has been added to the equation, since he was not running at the time of my original post.

2 new criteria have been added to the bottom of the list.

Updated top-to-bottom 'order' has been applied.

Feel free to discuss your opinions on these numbers below.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Google (Names are in "quotes" when searching)
"Rick Perry" - About 58,600,000 results
"Michele Bachman" - About 22,800,000 results -- 53,400,000 --- Gain 31,000,000
"Ron Paul" - About 29,000,000 results -- 35,800,000 --- Gain 7,000,000
"Mitt Romney" - About 18,100,000 results -- 18,000,000 -- Loss 100,000
"Tim Pawlenty" - About 7,930,000 results -- 14,800,00 -- Gain 7,000,000
"Newt Gingrich" About 13,300,000 results -- 9,760,000 -- Loss 4,000,000
"Herman Cain" - About 7,330,000 results -- 6,730,000 -- Loss 1,000,000
"Rick Santorum" - About 4,240,000 results -- 4,750,000 -- Gain 500,000

Candidate Website *Alexa Worldwide Ranking*

Newt.org - 171,409 -- 174,924

Gain/Loss hard to compare side-by-side here (E.g. Going from 1,000,000 to 100,000 is much easier than 10,000 to 2,000) so I'm leaving those numbers out, as they show a distorted view on things.

Interesting notes..

Herman Cain

As the media puts him into every other segment, he seems to be the only thing people know.

From July>Sept his site ranking dropped massively, then these last 2 months he's in the top 20k worldwide
From July>Sept he was basically irrelevant in the news, now he's talked about twice as much as the 2nd guy (Mitt)
From July>Sept he showed a very small gain on Facebook, now he's nearly doubled
From July>Sept he showed a very small gain on Twitter, now he's nearly tripled

None of this would happen if it wasn't for all of the media coverage. Everything from sexual harassment, 999, badly timed jokes, and expertly crafted excuses - the media just eats him all up and the bad press is working in his favor. As they say, bad press is better than no press.

It's funny, because once the media drops him, there's really no one else to fall back on, unless they decided to put Paul in the limelight, but that will never happen. Everyone seems to have had their shot as "front-runner" so I'm guessing they're going all in on "Cain Train", judging by the looks of it.

Looking forward to some more numbers. I'll update every 4 weeks from this point on.
