Here in South Africa we have:

- a better education system
- a better medical system
- safety and security
- transparent governance
- fully-working and widely available transportation / public systems
- low unemployment rates

Sorry - scratch all of those. I was just dreaming about some other place which is obviously NOT South Africa.

However - I can say this much - we do have very friendly people who are generally a much more polite and demure bunch than the Americans.

We do not have chemtrails. Nor do we have strange sky-rumbles or deviating compass-readings.

And our weather is pretty awesome all-year-round with reasonably comfortable temperatures even in winter. We do not have any real nature catastrophic events or natural disasters to speak of. We may experience the occasional small storm, flood, slight earth shudder, and sometimes heatwaves or drought - but hurricanes / massive flooding / earthquakes / torrential monsoons / heavy snowfalls / Tsunamis / large-areas-to-be-evacuated-scenarios are quite unheard of here.

We also have milk tarts!

Last time I was in America, the lady that picked us up at the airport and all her buddies insisted on going to the "South Africa Shop" to get milk tarts, biltong and marie biscuits. I thought that was funny.

BTW, chocolate manufactured in the USA is yuck. S.A chocolate is much tastier. Swiss chocolate is the best though.

You are absolutely right!

We also have bunny chow, koeksisters, "mielie-pap en sous" and my fav' from my pre-vegan days - bokkoms!

No American cuisine can beat these yummies! Makes me hungry it does...

Australia here,
Our soldier's are better paid and recieve better post battle medical treatment when they get home. they also get better battle kit (individual equipment) and a higher level of training prior to postings. benefits of service are also generally much better as well.
My source? Several serving members of the Australian defence force.

This is certainly something to be proud of and no links necessary.

I'm British who has spent some time in America. One thing I've noticed is that Americans generally tend to take themselves more seriously than us, Brits have a more self-deprecating sense of humour which I like and can poke fun at each other and themselves more easily than Americans (we call this "taking the piss"). Also our humour is often more subtle and sarcastic/ironic and this can sometimes go over the heads of some (not all) of Americans I have met.

I also prefer to "go out on the town" in the UK or with British people - in my experience, we drink more, sing more and just generally have more fun (although I do admit sometimes it goes too far and we can spoil it by getting into fights/being sick on the streets etc at the end of the night). I'm sure our European friends sometimes find the Brit abroad to be a bit loutish, loud and drunk but it can be fun sometimes.

I can also say the "c-word" over here and nobody cares, say it in America and people don't appreciate it too much.

Also, I was sure that this thread would be full of defensive Americans getting all upset about us dirty foreigners "criticising" their country (which goes back to my first point), pleasantly surprised that this has so far not been the case. KUTGW.

You definitely sound more fun to go out and party with than some of my American friends here. We generally have a good time when we go out but you are absolutely right that Americans take themselves awfully seriously and sometimes that spoils the fun.
