Was Sex or Sexual Acts involved in our Creation Stories and 'visions' of God?

I mean if you think about now we have so many sources of entertainment, back than what could they have done in their free time besides tell stories and eat.

And what about their sperm, what would they have took from some magic substance that comes out of them and creates life?

I thought about this recently. God stated in the Genesis account, "Be fruitful become many and fill the earth" implied Adam and Eve had the power to procreate right from the start of their creation but for some reason failed to act on it when they were first together.

You would assume that when Eve came into being the two of them would have had intercourse at that moment, but they didn't. If they did there would have been a perfect embryo brewing in her when they both sinned. The embryo would have been perfect and God could not execute the new life under their sin. Therefore, they had no sex drive before they ate from the tree in the middle of the garden.

I believe the two trees in the middle of the garden were two different directions the human family could possibly take. One with God and one without. The Tree of the knowledge of Good and Bad and the Tree of Life both had the chemical composition to bring Adam and Eve to full maturity. The fruit started up their sex drive. The difference between the trees is that God would guide them through their journey if they ate from the Tree of Life. He wouldn't help them out at all if they ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Bad.

Adam and Eve were freaked out of their nakedness because they had never been aroused before. Every time Adam and Eve saw each other they kept on getting aroused and so they hid because it was foreign to them. Then God says, "Who told you were naked?", Oh you ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Bad did you? They didn't get knowledge that they were naked. What they got was the prize behind door #2 that declared the human family was going down a path of good and bad experience in life. The bad things in life we experience is the knowledge of bad. The happy and wonderful experiences we get in life is the good knowledge. We are experiencing Plan B God foresaw in our future. He foresaw Plan A also but there was doubt so he made both Trees to answer that question.

Thank you for the response, I find that line where Adam says I saw I was naked and God gets angry and says who told you you were naked did you eat from the tree? pretty funny.

I mean really what opportunities would Adam have had to get off they were both in paradise together and couldn't leave.

Stuck in your garden with only your wife...doesn't sound like paradise to me.

Probably hilarious if the Sumerian Tablets are all just one big porn magazine. The information deciphered is our version of a copy of Hustler.

Makes you wonder if their were big orgies or what not and what might have been the perception. Maybe that was their way of spiritual enlightenment of course probably not.

I have never heard an atheist ever in the history of the world ever say they had an epiphany or vision of god through orgasm. There were atheists even in Biblical times. The Bible as we know it today was not around then but it says there were those who did not believe in god, hence atheists.

The concept of the apple representing pre-marital sex is a modern invention. And if you read the Bible, you would know that Adam and Eve were married. They weren't married by clergy because there was no clergy then. But they were married.

I think what you propose here is the Serpent Seed Doctrine, or it borders close to it. People fail to read it as it is written. Before the "apple", Adam had sex with Eve. It was not until after they were removed from the Garden of Eden that she conceived. Then they had sex after that child was born and she conceived again.

So if you would like to assume that the "apple" represents free and wanton sexual relationships, then being kicked out of the garden must be assumed to be that time of marriage that is boring and rough.

I do not believe that orgasm is the highest thing to achieve in sex, I believe that love is the highest thing to achieve and the love motivates the couple to staying together despite the times they do not have sex. Too many people place emphasis on orgasm that does not need love or intimacy. People do it all the time.

The apple wasn't sex.

Actually I always saw Genesis as an attempted explanation for what sets man apart from other animals who lived in ignorant bliss in the garden. The Apple doesn't represent sex, the story is quite clear that it grants KNOWLEDGE of good and evil. God wants his creation to remain ignorant of good and evil for whatever reason. I used to think of this as a story to explain why humans have such obvious moral sensibilities while, aside from some of our fellow mammals, the morality of other animals is less pronounced. It may have been used as an explanation for why we wore clothes while other animals did not need them as well. So we were as the other animals, ignorant of good and evil, but the fruit made us become aware of good and evil and thus we had to cover ourselves and become separate from our sort of "oneness" with nature. Now that's just my personal interpretation, in truth I could be way off base, which is the problem with reinterpreting myths.

The only part where anything about sex can be read into the account is when God brings all the animals before Adam and the Bible says a suitable companion for the man can't be found (suggesting that God apparently thought a non-human animal MIGHT have proved a suitable mate for Adam).

And that implies not only physical, but intellectual compatibility as husband and wife. I think that too often, couples are not intellectually compatible and they can't figure out their relationship at all.

When Eve ate the apple first, it made them incompatible, but then gave it to Adam to eat and they were again compatible, but by that time they had an understanding of the nature of their relationship and that one moment they were incompatible was just enough to create problems. It happens today, one thought of doubt can lead to a lot of trouble. At the moment they were naked, they could see each other for what they really were. They were human with all their flaws and were ashamed because they could no longer hide behind their ignorance of how each other was. That one little moment was enough to expose their flaws.

As Puck said in A Midsommers Night's Dream "Ah what fools these mortals be"
