I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of Big Oil,
and to the government who has out its hand,
one nation, under god Oil,
with no liberty ,and injustice for all.

Q: What would you do for the environment?

OBAMA: It is critical that we understand this is not just a challenge, it’s an opportunity, because if we create a new energy economy, we can create five million new jobs, easily. It can be an engine that drives us into the future the same way the computer was the engine for economic growth over the last couple of decades. We can do it, but we’re going to have to make an investment. The same way the computer was originally invented by a bunch of government scientists who were trying to figure out, for defense purposes, how to communicate, we’ve got to understand that this is a national security issue, as well.

Obama on the Environment

Allowing the Keystone XL Pipeline to go across the US is NOT an investment in a new energy economy! It is encouraging the continued use of dirty fossil fuels!

Glad to see your not using any oil products. Way to support your ideals

Seriously though do you want to just stop using oil tomorrow? If you look into it you will see that we are going to be stuck on fossil fuels for a very long time still.

Laughing...Anyone who is not a complete idiot knows that we use oil in tons of every day products and I am quite aware that we will need to use oil for quite a long time. I am trying to do my part. I try to upcycle, use reusables rather than disposables, recycle, and try to use less heat and air conditioning. I use all compact fluorescent lightbulbs, wash my clothes in cold water and have my hot water heater set as low as I can. I carpool if I can, shut off and unplug electrical items, don't run water if it is not necessary, and have numerous trees growing in my yard to help absorb carbon dioxide. I encourage others to conserve energy, reuse, recycle and upcycle.

I do what I can to use less energy and have less dependence on fossil fuels. I am encouraging the development of clean energy and the gross pollution of our planet.

Even Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States and the star of the new film, “An Inconvenient Truth,” thinks developing Canada’s oil sands is a bad idea. In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Gore noted that, “For every barrel of oil they extract there, they have to use enough natural gas to heat a family's home for four days. And they have to tear up four tons of landscape, all for one barrel of oil. It is truly nuts.”

Oil Sands:The Cost of Albertas Black Gold

Seems pretty nutty to me as well.

I am all with you on switching to clean energy and it's nice to see someone doing their part. Your certainly more active than me. However I did research the cost of switching to alternative methods and I don't have the links anymore but I believe the costs were very extreme in terms of what people would put up with to do it.

Any thoughts on that?
