About the show:

DESCRIPTION

What if the Maya were right about the end of humanity as we know it? Would fire pour from the sky, buildings shatter, floods destroy Washington DC and Los Angeles slide into the Pacific? That’s how Hollywood has interpreted the end of the Maya great calendar cycle on December 21, 2012, in the movie “2012” with John Cusack.

The Maya believed that everything including creation and destruction occurred in cycles. Their calendar spanned five cycles, each lasting approximately 5,200 years. At the end of each cycle before this one, the Maya believed the current, flawed creation had to be destroyed for the world to be born again. Some believe the end of the current cycle on December 21, 2012, is an apocalyptic sign. And those who see a connection between the complex and incredibly accurate Maya calendar and a prophecy that the world will end in 2012 point to an unexpected discovery made in 2003.

This captivating documentary looks for the truth behind the compelling myth – is there evidence of global upheaval on a massive scale? We follow scientist Adam Maloof to three continents on a detective story that spans eons, with clues embedded in the oldest rocks on the planet.

And it has just now covered an overnight flash freezing and when I say overnight I mean overnight ( Plants captured in the ice intact!!!!! ). My husband who is not so into the prophecies as I am is going : WOW, now I understand why you are so obsessed with 21-12-2012! Those Maya's were awesomely accurate with their astronomy!!!

yeah... i think this is supposed to be the 5th world approaching at the end of this cycle/great year

but it has already been established that the Maya calander was likely adopted from the Olemics who preceeded the Maya by around 1,000 years....
so any extrapolation by the Maya was (is) a belief system for the full cycle of 5 new, made-over, worlds..
because neither the Maya nor the Olemics or even the Aztecs have a long enough history to know for certain that 5 periods of ~5120 years (or approximately 1 precession cycle) is the actual history of modern man.

its all entertaining & engages one's higher thoughts...but is nothing more than wishful thinking that the 'slate' gets wiped clean and the collective of humanity progresses to the point of being almost saintly,

Not so new, saw it more than a year ago.

Its interesting though.

The flashfreezing in South America is new proof of - nasty - things that have happened and can happen again.

Hopefully not for a long long time.

Watched it and it was interesting.
I fully believe that we are entering into our final days as we know things to be.
It is coming to an end.
Finally.

I believe so, how it is going to end though is something many speculate and debate about! Time will tell!!
