no, it's ratings money. you have milions of people looking for updates, more or less trapped in homes and hotels watching tv until the power goes out. you're not going to tell them that there is nothing to worry about with all those viewers hanging on your every word

I can say firsthand this is the weakest hurricane I've ever seen in this area. There was a thunderstorm a couple of months ago that was WAY worse.
