I live near the base, about 20 miles away. They start all this racket at the butt crack of dawn, it's so loud and has powerful shock waves/sonic booms that rattle my house. My parrots scream their heads off and I get very bad anxiety.

It's not just this past week that has been obnoxious, they do this stuff year round. It's a shame because Fallbrook is a very nice place to live otherwise. I'm reaching my limit though.

They fly their helicopters over the neighborhood at all hours of the day and night. Sometimes do late night training exercises with the sky lit up, so not only are they guilty of excessive noise but also light pollution, a lot of the night star viewing here is great except for the part above the base.

Anyway, what are they planning to do with the bombs, bring them to Afganistan? What normal citizen is pro these wars?! I've never met anyone that says they are besides having support for the troops. I'll bet most of the marines don't want it either, just doing their jobs and they like to blow sheet up.

But why oh why won't the military respect our peace and quiet, go make excessive noise where nobody lives?!?

Considering a move back to the SF bay area, maybe Ohio for a bit (any military bases I should know about near Granville?) and eventually England. Can't wait.

Compared to our military being well prepared and trained I don't give a damn about your sleep schedule or quiet street. sorry

I have family in Oceanside and that kind of stuff has been going on for years, acutally centuries. That's what that whole streach of uninhabited land between San Clemente and Oceanside is for, Military testing. It is what it is, I'm down there a lot, going down tomorrow and actually the train is much louder and shakes the house much more that any military testing. If your really sensitive to it I would suggest moving or getting a dog.

If I had to guess I would say blowing them up, but hey that's just my guess.

Erm, yeah, I agree. I just wish they would do it in far less densely populated areas, they have plenty of bases out in the desert where it wouldn't bother people so much or lower the home values. The California coastline is too beautiful and awesome for these shenanigans besides.

Did I say anything about sleep? Nah, I drink beer, no problem there.

I live in O-side. Every so often they'll drop a 500 pounder that rattles my windows. I've grown up with the artillery barrages and the occasional bomb going off. I find it pretty comforting to be honest. I have no issues living next door to the biggest USMC base on the west coast.

I would recommend getting used to it because there is nothing we can do to stop it. "Hey Mr marine, can you stop shaking my windows with your boomers?"

I have thought about it before in that light, for instance maybe they won't spray chemtrails around here. But on the flip side surely it's a major enemy target.

Thanks for your response. Since I didn't grow up here I don't think will get used to it.

@mileslong54 - I have a dog. LOL. He's completely indifferent to this noise etc. from what I can tell.

If they were in the area first, you should move. If you were, you can ask them to move.
I suspect the former was true, so live with it (or move).

Good point, yes I plan to. But still, I'd like a little more consideration for the residents, the frequency and duration- tone it down a notch would be ideal. A compromise. Guess I could send them a letter every day like Andy Dufrain (as I write this, the probably hundredth sonic boom of the day).

Thought about it some more and realized that back in 1999, when the country wasn't at war, it was relatively quiet here... so I figure in a few years it will improve when the troops are finally out of Afganistan and hopefully not in another war.

Ahh... Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. I have spent many a day eating dirt out there!!!!!

Surely you didn't arrive to your home with the original homesteaders. And surely you knew that a Marine Corp base existed nearby that would might actually make some noise.

If not, so what. Get used to the noise or get gone!

I hear these same crybaby complaints from people who live here in Phoenix. They cry and cry all day long about the noise the jets make out at Lukes AFB. They ACTUALLY expect that their complaints will lead to the base being relocated. It makes me friggin laugh!!!!!

You knew that there was a base there. Deal with it..... or don't...... I do not care either way. But that place was home to many a member here I am sure. It is doubtful, in my humble opinion, that sympathy won't be a majority of responses.

I'm not crying not expecting sympathy either. Just a rant and curious what's with the bombs.

Our house is in the family and will likely stay in the family a hundred years. Wasn't my decision to buy it but when it was purchased there was way less noise, I remember. Maybe eventually Pendleton will close, like how the navy pulled out of Vallejo. I don't expect them to relocate the base... I've been on it before and I must admit it's quite nice. Was wishing they'd take the bombs over to 29 palms but then that'd be bad to wish noise and rattling on another town. BUT Fallbrook and Oceanside combined have nearly 200,000 people compared to 25,000 in 29 palms so less civilians would be "crying"

I guess the marines really need to train with these explosives for Afganistan, I get it. I'm still wondering what is going down on the base though, if I understood better the purpose for this using major hardcore explosives preparation, then maybe I'd be more chill about it and deal better. To me it's suspicious heightened activity, like what are the military planning on having the marines do with this training?
