Message notification

First let me say that I love it here. I also know I am kind of new. Now, with that disclaimer out of the way the new
YOU HAVE MESSAGES box is really annoying. Can I turn it off? Could you consider making it go away? The one on the bottom ribbon doesn't bother me at all. But the big pop up box really irritates me.

Sorry to complain and I don't mean it strictly as a complaing, more of a functionality, enjoyablity issue.

You can't turn off the u2u's but for what it's worth, the pop-up box is probably a passing glitch. The ribbon notification is supposed to take the place of the pop-up, but every once in awhile I have seen the pop-up come back and then it disappears again.... Chalk it up to another unexplained mystery....

I havmt seen that pop-up in quite some time, must be a glitch because I thought it was phased out....
