RAF Red Arrows Crash - Bournemouth

www.bbc.co.uk

A Red Arrow aeroplane has crashed in Dorset following a display at the Bournemouth Air Festival.

The fire service confirmed they were called to an air crash at 13:50 BST near Bournemouth International Airport.

Eyewitnesses described seeing the plane plunge to the ground in a field at Throop village.

It was one of nine Red Arrows that had earlier taken part in a display over the seafront. No details are known about possible casualties.

Looking at the current video footage its highly likely to be fatal, fingers crossed its not. What we do know is this is going to carry a long & in-depth investigation as to the cause of the crash.

This is such a tradegy for the RAF and pilots family & friends. My thoughts go out to all of them.

I live in Brighton and i saw to red arrows while coming back from the shops. I don't know if this was part of the team in Bournemouth. I have not heard if the pilot died or not, but its hard to believe anyone coming out of that crash alive

Some of the reports say the pilots managed to eject and a guy walking his dog pulled them out of the water. Its in the second video.

Note Just a quick warning it seems there are lots false videos of this event on youtube that have been removed in the last few mins. Some of them have a TinyUrl link in their description. In my experience this could be some kind of Virus. I havent clicked it so im not sure.

Eyewitnesses say they didn't see the pilot eject and no sign of a parachute, so it is looking extremely likely that it was a fatal accident. They also say that it appears that the Pilot steered the aircraft away from built up areas and into the field.

I live in Bristol and the Red Arrows performed at the International Balloon Fiesta here last week and they were amazing.

My thoughts are with the family of the pilot and his comrades.

ETA: This pilot was a hero. An extremely selfless act. RIP.

I'd be surprised if he didn't manage to eject.

From the footage it looks like the pilot would have had plenty of time to eject and from what I could see the aircraft wasn't in a spin or upside down.

Fingers crossed.

The pilot was killed in the crash, what a bad day for the red arrows. Flt Lt Jon Egging, Red 4.

I'm no fan of the military but this guy was a TRUE HERO.

Thoughts go out to his family, he selflessly gave his life and steered his Hawk away from residential buildings and people and sacraficed his life for others. Instead of thinking of his own life he thought of others in such a heroic way

GOD BLESS THE HERO "Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging"

I hadn't taken into account the possibility that he might have to perform avoidance manoeuvres. It was most certainly that which cost him his life.

Good man.

Lets hope he gets the credit he deserves.

Was just reading the sky news coverage of the events and on the comments section, apparently there were reports of a UFO nearby at the same time as the plane went down. Same as usual, no other eveidence to support but i thought i would stick it up on here just in case anybody here has heard anything like this.
If anybody knows, no doubt they will be on here
