A year ago 900,000 gallons of oil was spilled over a 30 mile stretch between Battle Creek and Marshall close to the Kalamazoo River, into marshlands and farmlands. There have been 5 deaths since the spill. Just as BP has done in the Gulf of Mexico, Enbridge has left oil and the people behind.

Kalamazoo River Oil Spill

The oil spill, NOT cleaned up, but covered up in Michigan. This is an excellent video!

Let me warn people now---if the Keystone XL Tar Sands pipeline is placed through the middle of the US, every state and region the pipeline passes through will be at risk of this happening in their area--just as it happened in Michigan and in the Gulf of Mexico. Just as has happened in those areas, there will be sickness, dead animals, and a mess left for the people!

Do what you can in your area to get your representatives to say "NO" to the the Pipeline.

A planned peaceful sit-in will be held in Washington DC from August 20th to September 3rd.

Here's another link from an article today.

The ecological cost itself has been devastating, creating dead zones in the river bottom, massive fish die offs, bird die offs, musk rat and aquatic life die offs from a toxic environment.
