New "Cosmos" Show to Air

Fox has OK'd a new version of the show "Cosmos" to be created. Neil deGrasse Tyson will host. Seth MacFarlane will direct... Which is kind of weird, but he'll probably do a good job. Should be worth watching.

Im sure Neil had something to do with Seth directing that since they are good friends. I will probably see it but I'm not a big fan of Neil because of his disinformation about 2012 but that's another story which I'm thinking about making a post after some research to back my statement. S+F

I'll watch it as long as Roger the Alien from American Dad makes a guest appearance. Or better yet, is Neil's co-host.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is my favorite living scientist. The man is a genius. He is amazingly brilliant. He will do very well filling the shoes of the late great Carl Sagan. I cannot wait to see this series.

Neil is an o.k. bloke. Cosmos was a great series. Hope they do it justice. The director is questionable to some, but Seth actually has a huge crush on science and understanding, so it makes sense.

That would actually be funny. But I doubt they'd do it. Seth probably views this as his shot to serious stuff.

Astronomer Dr. Carl Sagan is host and narrator of this 13-hour series that originally aired on Public Broadcasting Stations in the United States. Dr. Sagan describes the universe in a way that appeals to a mass audience, by using Earth as a reference point, by speaking in terms intelligible to non-scientific people, by relating the exploration of space to that of the Earth by pioneers of old, and by citing such Earth legends as the Library of Alexandria as metaphors for space-related future events. It will be mindless crap. Not worth of the name and association with Dr. Sagan.

It should be good, but I think Brian Cox and his "Wonders of the Universe" is already doing an awesome job over on the Science channel.

Maybe Macfarlane is involved just to make sure Fox doesn't put some kind of religious swing on it.

I think this is a blatant grab at (as a poster previously mentioned) Brian Cox, as well as Morgan Freeman, and their unexpected good ratings and feedback they've received on their respective series. See, the Science Channel has become what Discvoery channel USED to be: a great channel that explores interesting topics.....somewhere amongst the way, Discovery and History Channel succumbed to the reality show gods and sold their souls, and now we have dribble like "Swamp Kings" and "Sons of Guns" in their place.

De Grasse is good and I think he'll do well. He has a knack for being able to explain complicated quantum physics concepts to the layperson, and has a good personality to boot. Fox has deep pockets, so you can beat that if they're taking this series on, they're willing to do it justice and expect to see some great, cutting edge CGIs.

Yes, channels have been lowering their standards... But you can't blame them too much. People watch what they want to watch... and apparently what they want to watch is a lot of crap. I noticed HS had a block of UFO Hunters on. lol So apparently that one still brings in some viewers. I wouldn't be surprised if they came out with another UFO show.

Yeah, gotta love that one....and if you try the "UFOs" link to their chat boards, it shoots you to the sub homepage of "UFO Hunters" on their website, no sense!!

Seen anyone else on here from there? Ive been trying to figure out how to navigate these boards, they're a little too complex, especially all the dead space (blank signature line is 3 inches?) and page long quoted "reply tos" that constantly paste the first question/statement of each thread.

Other than that the moderators on here are pretty good, and there tends to be a much better crop of people on here, not as hostile or whacky.

I got an email from my buddy BobE, but I have not seen him on here. Apparently he is going through one of his "lets be friends" phases. I'm sure that won't last long. If he's on here, he'll probably be accusing me of nutty things in no time.

There's too many categories here, which is not my thing. But everybody has their own way of doing stuff.
