But what I paid was only 17.4 percent of my taxable income - and that's actually a lower percentage than was paid by any of the other 20 people in our office. Their tax burdens ranged from 33 percent to 41 percent and averaged 36 percent," he said.

Some (No namEs tOday) on this site like to trump out Warren Buffet as an example of a rich man that could lose everything tomorrow, and that's why the rich are taxed too much etc, etc. I thought it was very interesting and I know most of you will find it interesting that there is a FACT portrayed by Warren, that many people on this site have been using cryptic propaganda math to prove the rich pay their fair share. Warren comes right out and says he isn't paying his fair share then goes on to show he has 50% of the tax liability that people have in his own office. What more info would you need to start redistributing wealth through some kind of cap. I think its a great idea. If congress makes a mistake and passes a law that people manipulate to get rich, after a certain point the money goes back into the system to prevent huge issues with inequality. Prevents a class war, and fixes tax revenue at the same time.

Somebody needs to tell this guy that the Treasury has a program where ANYONE can write a check to the treasury for the sole purpose of reducing the National Debt.

Buffett has about $50 Billion, and is crying that he doesn't get taxed enough?

How about cutting a check out for $5 Billion to the treasury, I'm sure that would make him feel better?

He was on MSM today basically saying that he thinks it's insane that he pays less taxes as a percentage than the lowest paid secretary in his office.

As usual, the poor and middle classes get the lions' share of the burden of fixing America, while the wealthiest Americans continue to enjoy the lowest rates they've had EVER.

And they wonder why there's a problem. The Republicans seem to want to return to a "Leave it to Beaver" lifestyle that they had in the 1950's. Fine, let's do that. While we're doing that, let's be reminded of 80% income taxes (and higher) and the massive amount of gov't spending that was going into research, development, and infrastructure spending at that time.

Let's go back to tax levels AND spending levels (comparatively) of the 1950's, and put everyone back to work rebuilding the country.

Nothin stoppin him from donating his money to the govt or to charity. Because he is extremely wealthy we should raise taxes on everybody ? Talk about bogus. He is just supporting Obama's Marxist redistribution of wealth. If he wanted to finance Big Government, the IRS will not refuse his money Im sure.

Buffet is nuts. No one should pay income tax.

The federal government can be funded with a 0.5 percent national sales tax.

Nice to see one of the wealthiest men realize that the burden lay with all of us. That not all wealthy people are so greedy that they feel entitled to pay a lesser percentage. I would completely understand the supply side argument if unemployment was lower right now, or if their tax break was mandated to go back into the same economy which they profited from, but reality is a different story. Whether or not he means this, or is just saying it for some other political reason, I don't know. What I do know is that if middle class Americans are paying 30+ % and taking the biggest daily burden, while the wealthiest pay half that percentage, while unemployment is ludicrously high, that there is a problem.

OKAY already....People just do not seem to get it. So tax the rich people more. You had better be worried what and who they consider rich. Then when they spend all that money then more taxes on everyone else right. No one disputes that taxes on the rich should be raised (except maybe some of the rich) but you must realize by now that its the spending stupid. Until they learn to spend within the means then taxes will mean nothing in relation to the debt. This is surely something that everyone can understand right? All the tax in the world means nothing but more spending for these folks. And spend they will until we stand up and say no mas!

Buffet himself notes that the top 400 earners last year took in about $69 billion.

If you took ALL of their income, it wouldn't pay for what we waste on programs that benefit no one except the bureaucrats and cronies that run them.

The "tax the rich" argument is a sham. We spend and waste too much.

FACT: He gave $billions to the Gates Foundation last year so he wouldn't be TAXED on it!
He could've just given it to the Treasury; he is a pre-senile hypocrite who repeats this rant eavery year, but doesn't practice what he preaches. His chief financial assistant is paid $25million a year to assure that he doesn't pay a penny more than he needs to.

FACT: GE paid no money in taxes, yet received $billions in tax breaks and corporate contracts. Who do you think Obama's chief economic advisor is?

The crappy thing is that even if everyone paid 100% of what they earned into taxes, it still isn't enough for bill the government is racking up.

The burden of the tax in the nation doesn't fall on the rich neither on the poor, but it falls on the hard working class.

That is a fact.

The so call Bush tax cuts are not for the benefit of the working class is for the benefit of the wealthiest in the nation.

The Democrats now in power can not take away the gift that keeps on giving at the expenses of the tax payers because it also benefits them.
