Not sure exactly where this is, other than Southern California but found it interesting what with all the other geological/environmental activity happening...



Makes you wonder why they just don't take some samples and figure out exactly what it is - Steam/Smoke?

What do you think?

so is it smoke or steam? You think they'd at least have been able to determine that much. You don't need a geologist for that, even thought they had one of those too!

...seems to me that no obvious odor = not smoke but steam... also noticed that it was foggy away from the "steaming" hill, so maybe the steam has more to do with above ground temps than below ground vents... mostly i think it must be a slow news day in cali or that reporter just wanted an excuse to go to the beach...

Apparently the White House has been made aware of this issue. A statement was released 2 hours ago.

Carney stated "President Obama is aware of the hillside blowing smoke and is following the developments closely". Carney additionally stated " it is hard to determine the difference between smoke and steam but is sure of one thing; the hillside started spewing gasses in 2006 and strongly appears to be Bush’s fault".

A short question and answer period ensued after the announcement.

I apologize for my ignorance in advance, but why did Carney say it appears to be Bush's fault?

Amazing I have seen a few nudist beaches in my time but an idiots beach that is a new one, everyone interviewed seemed like they have had a brain injury. Seems to me like an underground vent or HAARP

Hey there "gonone" No problem. It’s a stupid American tongue and cheek joke. Obama has made a habit of blaming former President Bush for all his problems. So when a problem arises we just say its Bushes fault.
I am sure SA has a political joke or two. Feel free to share any you may have I could use a good chuckle today.

Maybe California is breaking off into the ocean?

Obviously they just can't see the door. Once they find that they can tell Bilbo to stop making stew because it is scaring the locals.

This was near a ocean..so my take is water somehow was trapped in the rocks, the rocks heated up enough that said water started evaporating, and thus you have steam.

Yeah, the snow took us by surprise, again. It's been a bit hectic over the last few weeks to get around in this country. Sleds, good idea because clearly we cannot drive in the snow. I left my place extra late last night to miss the traffic and i still got stuck for almost 3 hours.

When I read this thread....I remembered reading this one Link that talked about steam and volocano's rising up in CA and surrounding area's. Unfortnately the thread has been closed but there is still interesting info to to read and see...

This guy seems to know what he's talking about. It makes sense.
