I won't repeat the sighting my wife and I saw again apart from saying it was the most amazing and frightening thing I've ever seen on may levels.

But yes, the feeling of loneliness after seeing one is awful, I was lucky as my wife was because we shared the experience but seeing something, not having the tools to catch a photo (that would be ridiculed anyhow) and only having you as the viewer would be hell.

The initial reaction of the brain is shock and then you hope everyone IS seeing this just like you, most believers want everyone to see ufo's as a wish for the world to be visited but you have to just deal with the sighting as it was to you.

Mine could have been extreme military or something not around here normally but my wife and I hold the knowledge that we saw something special, something not normally seen and something that we could not have made a mistake about, this was no trick of the light, not a plane as we know it and of a size that still makes me shake a little.

So take pride from being lucky to have seen something special, do not try and prove it to people, its a pointless task but DO keep looking for possibilities as to what it could have been in terms of real world items, there's always the chance you saw something with another explanation and you must remain open to that idea.

I have but I still cannot explain what my wife and I saw, this was sci fi film type stuff in the sky above us...

I've had two sightings here last year that I really can't explain as conventional aircraft. I'm still a skeptic though

I did confide with a friend and the reaction was understanding but still predictable on some levels, I even had reluctance telling my wife what I saw. So yes there is weird feeling of loneliness.

Honestly it is the weirdest feeling to see something you can't explain... I felt paralyzed, couldn't speak or even think about getting my phone out to take a picture. Afterwards just standing there, I didn't feel comfortable telling anyone about it..... Definitely very very weird.

I know how you feel. When I try & share my story, people to this day laugh in my face. At least my experience was with my Mom & two older brothers & we all saw the same thing. Google search images for "Waterbury UFO" to see exactly what we saw (Also click on the link below). Many saw the same UFO that night in Southern Connecticut & someone was able to get a snapshot of it which is what you'll see on the Google search results. The lights were many different colors rotating in a circular fashion giving the distinction that the object was disk shaped. It was at night when we saw it, hovering & at helicopter level with no sound whatsoever. The best thing was how it left. As GOD as my witness, it moved slowly to the right & immediately zoomed to the left completely disappearing leaving a split second streak like a shooting star. Amazing & I'll never forget it.

My username here on ATS stemmed from my experience. I stargaze alot in hopes that I can experience a UFO once again.

I've imagined that it must be frustrating to spot an alien craft, because most won't believe that's what you saw. A picture sure would help. Why didn't you take a picture immediately instead of waiting to pull over at a destination further up the road? We have nice pictures taken from moving vehicles.

I understand that there has to be life beyond our solar system. I just haven't seen anything that leads me to believe they've solved the distance problem. I wouldn't be shocked if they had, but all I've seen so far seems to be common or classified terrestrial craft.

It's not that "I want to believe". I just don't rule out the possibility. I also don't rule out the possibility that the universe is an entity. I'm open to any possibility, but only act on the "proven". Yes, I know theory is flawed and changing, but I go with what works until shown otherwise.

Well, ok, I understand the shock and awe factor. Once I have it in my hand I can take a picture with my LG Octane in around 10 seconds. It may not be a great picture but it ought to show something. I kicked myself for not having a camera after seeing my UFO. I went out and bought a Minolta SRT 202 and case and kept it in my car for years so I wouldn't be unprepared again. I don't discount your story but if I see something like that again I'm going to get pictures, whether they're great pictures or not. Take crappy pictures immediately and if you have time take better ones.

I live in Timmins Ontario Canada. I've had my own fair share of sightings here in the great white north. I am 27 years of age, sound of mid and body and have seen one (1) spherical metallic body in the sky, one (1) saucer shaped body and one (1) cigar shaped body in the sky. These were all on either partly cloudy or clear days. Also at night I have seen over a dozen bright green streaks in the sky that have made 45 * turns and steeper. The night time ones I was always with my bro and he seen them too. We are what you call "very amateur" UFO hunters. We were never prepared with cameras or video because we would do it spontaneously. We also witnessed what looked like a fire fight in space about 2 years back. It was the dead of night and we could see objects way up there and dodging left and right, then about 5 minutes in we seen what looked like some kind of craft on fire and loose control. It "essed" through the sky like a snake as it came through the atmosphere.

I have seen some amazing things on my own and with other people and I await to see more!

This is my first ever post on ATS and hopefully it isnt my last!

Peace

These phenomena are as real as anything else in this weird world, and if we weren't so corralled, warped, and constrained in our thinking and methods of truth-finding it would be the subject of serious study at universities and research centers worldwide. The UFO phenomenon is just one of several gaping holes in our ability to address the real, and is slapping us in the face again and again, as if trying to jar us out of our stupor, all the while refusing to play by our rules or live up to our preconceptions and expectations of what it should be and do.

The first thing I am usually struck by when I read skeptical criticism regarding the existence of the UFO phenomenon is the certainty that those offering the criticism have not looked into the phenomenon they dismiss so contemptuously in even a cursory manner. They claim there is never any physical evidence, or sightings by trained sky observers, astronomers, or other highly credible witnesses, or simultaneous radar evidence, and they are wrong on all counts.

Something big is clearly going on here. Is it an alien conditioning system of some sort preparing us for...what? Is it just "other people's spacecraft" surveying us or perhaps keeping tabs on a potential threat? Is it some strange Earth phenomenon, or maybe even future time-traveling humans tweaking their present by adjusting the past (our present)? Is it a cynical psy-ops operation laying the groundwork for us to meekly accept authoritarian governments? Or is it some incredible mixture of all of the above and more?

Am I out of line to suggest that we continue to bury our collective heads in the sand at our own peril?

hey everyone,

I saw a UFO when I was I'd say between six and eight years old. I was watching TV in the living room and it was bright day in the summer. When I casually looked out of our panorama windows I saw a ball of light (right the cliche one so many seem to see, e.g. google "spinning ufo balls of light" ) at the height where grown trees have the first branches hanging around. The ball appeared to be the size of a baseball and it was "light". Not white, also not glowing, but just plain light. Can't explain it. It freaked me out so much that I jumped behind the couch I had been sitting on and didn't dare to look out for it for some minutes, I guess. maybe around five. When I fearfully raised my head over the couch's backrest it was gone.

My parents were pretty normal people though moderat christians, no fundamentalists, rather the mainstream type, rational thinking, progressive liberals, christian values. FAR from conspiracy or ufo nuts. Nothing. No book on the shelf, no talk during lunches ... And I am not prone to such "hallocinations". I never had anything like that again. And if it was due to outward influences, I should have much more of this stuff happening now, as I am exposed to the documentation of such events. And there is nothing. And I can relate to the OP, I'd love to see it again. Also a big one, like he did see one!

In science, this is exactly how you try to verify how trustworthy some hypothesis is. You take the data and then you corrolate it with the critaria you would allow to support your theories. Best would be, to not even have the laboratory supervisor know which hypothesis is tested, for sure not the individuals involved, being tested.
So for me this was like a double-blind test of the hypothesis "UFO's are real" and it clearly supports it.

By the way - I know a bunch of people who saw these balls of light and they are officially NOT nuts! ; )

I wish more people would post their stories. Did you submit your case to MUFON? I know they're not perfect, but having a paper trail makes the account a little more palatable to those who are skeptical of cases of high weirdness. Also if you're looking for credibility. Prepare a statement testifying to the truthfulness of what you saw and have your wife and anyone else who was present sign the document before a notary. The more people confirming what you witnessed the better. Thank you for sharing your story with us!

Yes it's lonely. Worse is when a close friend or spouse does'nt believe what you saw and even
reacts by ridiculing you and making the same boring jokes about Ufo's that have been
doing the rounds for years.

I understand what some people are saying in that people can presume some astronomical occurence is a Ufo.... but....Why don't people Listen to what the witness saw instead of judging.

An object that varies it's speed and direction, hovers, and moves in directions independant
of the wind is not a chinese lantern or a shooting star or satellite.

[...]

Also the saying a craft/ Ufo wouldn't have lights that drew attention is again judging the witness's
data instead of just listening. If an object is a Ufo we can't make
presumptions like this, as no-one knows what they are.

I have seen people interpreting birds or bats, something which was CLEARLY birds/bats describing as UFOs and saying "it's impossible that birds move like that"

As for the rotating lights..i didn't say an UFO would not have lights (rotating ones, that is)..i said it's ODD because it simply is because such lights would not make any sense, however i can see some naive hoaxers making this up because they *think* (in their naivity) that an UFO supposedly needs to have rotating lights

For me, it simply wouldn't make any sense and it raises a little flag.

Would you like to elaborate why a UFO having rotating lights doesn't make sense to you?
It's sounds to me like maybe you're the one being naive, or maybe a little arrogant. Just because something doesn't make sense to you does that mean we all have to adopt your narrow minded opinions?
There are so many credible sightings of UFO's with all manner of various lighting patterns, colors, shapes and sizes.
Anybody who tries to rationalize this subject by saying things like 'a UFO wouldn't look like this' or 'a UFO shouldn't have lights' or even 'that doesn't make sense' is either not using their head or not very smart, but likely somebody who thinks they are smarter than everyone else

Hello!! In Greenwood Indiana 2008. I took this daytime video from my back yard.In 2011 I took the night video .The objects are really close to the same area. You can see the cell tower to the left in both of the videos.
I never posted these videos on youtube or disclose tv. I only sent them to M.U.F.O.N .some how they ended up on youtube which is ok but noone ever put it together that I took the video's from the same place.I have had alot of sightings around here .My most recent was a bout a month ago but i wasnt fast enough to get it on video .As soon as i opened my lcd screen to film they vanished. strange..
