Seen in the area

I've been seeing alot of helecopter activity, (ALOT blackhawks,apaches,cobras sometimes as many as 12 at a time), and troop activity around the small towns close to my home. We are not too far from one of the world's largest military complexes so I kinda grew up seeing choppers and convoys around. Nothing like this though. Seriously a dozen choppers flew over my house just a couple of weeks ago. My son and I were jumping on our trampoline when we saw them. Four Blackhawks and EIGHT Apaches. What the hell?

What base do you live by???

I live fairly close to Fort Hood (about an hour away).

Can you take some pictures please and e-mail them to me i would like to look into this Keep a diary please of activity of the base, note things you see,etc.

Is it that surprising tho? I don't live near a base, so I really wouldn't know. But is it surprising that now there is a lot of activity? They are restructuring troops all across the globe right now, or are going to begin to do so. Perhaps they have these troops running lots more exercises.

I think you can attribute the increased activity to ramping up for deployment. The Air Cav and all other rotary wing units have had to change their tactics lately, as the insurgents in Iraq have caught on to their tactics, such as crossing power lines at the poles to insure avoidance of the cables. They just train their RPG's on a spot over the poles and let fly...higher rate of hit there...

Ft Hood has one of the largest live fire ranges in the nation. I've flown there on many an occasion dropping flares for the Army. I�d expect the increased traffic is due to increased training requirements.

its wierd that u mentioned that. lately i have heard alot of helecoptors go over my house, i do not live near any military base or anything i have heard and seen atleast 3 helecoptors go over or close to my house every day.

I've been noticing an unusual amount of air traffic as well here in Michigan.

The only thing that has stopped me from thinking I was just being more observant or thinking about it more was about two weeks ago.

I was stopping at my bank when (I have little knowledge of planes) there was one commercial looking airliner with two mid sized personal or military planes following to either side. All five planes were flying extremely low and close together. All five of the planes were too big for any of the airports within a good 30 miles, so they weren't landing and nobody special was supposed to be in town as far as I knew, which is all I could come up with for why there were four planes following a commercial flight.
