Has to make you wonder?

Why would the young generation support a 70 year old man with extremely conservative and strict Constitutional views? Wouldn't the young crowd be more inclined to support a younger, more good-looking candidate that is promising them the world?

I suspect, if we take away the Democrats and the under-18 crowd, then Romney and Perry will drop and Ron Paul will still have the same support he has had all along.

If the Democrats and under-18 crowd really are supporting Paul, then we have to ask why? Does a strict Constitutionalist and rabid Conservative have support from across the aisle? Are his views, the views of the future? Whether he wins or not, those under 18 year olds are growing up, and they will be the movers and the shakers of the next election, so if you are correct, it is just more evidence of our changing times!!

Young folks, and college campuses are notoriously liberal. Is it really possible that things have changed so much that a Ron Paul type candidate can dominate those venues?

I hope you are correct, because that is even more encouraging for our future

You know, it's funny that Ron Paul is seen as a strict conservative, yet his stance on the issues are NOT. For example: When asked about whether he thinks it would be okay for a state to allow polygamy (obviously a ploy to get him to expose his conservative views) his response was: His personal belief is that marriage should be between a single man and a single woman, BUT the government should NOT have any policing authority. He even went so far as to ask WHY do we even need a marriage license? Why can't we just go to a church and get married? He said that what other people do and believe should NOT be controlled by either the feds OR the state so LONG as they are not forcing their beliefes on anyone else.

You know what that sounds like to me? EXACTLY what I think. I am a 39 yr old white woman born and raised in America. Middle class, educated with kids, a mortgage and a car payment. I am heterosexual but have gay friends. I am white, but have black, hispanic and native american friends. I am NOT racist, but believe we need to do something about our immigration problems. I think it safe to say I fairly represent a big chunk of middle-class America.

I AM READY FOR A CHANGE. We need to bring this country back to what it was meant to be....and I think Ron Paul is the man to do it. He is a man of traditional values who believes in the constitution, but NOT in Big Brother. I think he is one of the few politicians not bought and sold. He is like my Grandfather whos conservative views and approach to life I respected and cherished.

THAT is America is lacking.....a leader we can RESPECT.

Well, that is what a "strict conservative" is.

One doesn't have to be pro-life, or against gay marriage, or tough on crime to be a conservative. In fact, if someone has those strong inclinations, and thinks the Federal govt should mandate it, then they are in fact a Progressive Liberal!

Conservatives do not want any over-arching Federal regulation. Not on drugs, not on marriage, not mandatory sentencing, not on education, not on healthcare. We want the opportunity to make those decisions on a local and state level.

Your views sound exactly like mine. I could care less if gay men want to marry. I don't think abortion should be used as birth control, but I don't think the government should regulate it at the federal level.

if Ron Paul is everything so many here on ATS think he is maybe it's time for him to break free from the GOP and start a legitimate third party. (take note / I said legitimate -- not people running around with teabags hanging from their ballcaps). ~~ full disclosure, I'm an Obama guy but I think maybe the time is ripe in America for the emergence of a 3rd party. the GOP is dying a slow and cruel death at the hands of the tea party. (if you are a thinking person and can put your pride aside you know this to be true) I know Paul is somewhat connected with the tea-pers but he doesn't come across as fanatical as Bachmann or as narcissistic as Palin. maybe he has what it takes, who knows. he himself seems dissatisfied with the GOP so why does he remain a part of it? Paul is getting up there in years, if he's going to make a serious run for the presidency he needs to do it now. but, IMHO, first he needs to kiss the GOP goodbye.
