Now, the American company is collaborating with a Chinese-Singaporean consortium that is building a real-life city of the future where cars as we know them are set to play a much smaller role than they do today, but where a forward-thinking GM still sees a great opportunity for.

Here you have GM going to China and design the city of the future while our country falls apart around us! What is this world coming too?

You know at first
I was all for countries getting along and cooperating with each other.
I never did demonize China they way my country did.

Now I think it is just plain wrong.

Now there are several reasons GM might do this...because they can. They are so diversified no matter what, we have to buy something from them. It is a monopoly from the top. China can afford to give them what they need to create the City of their dreams in the first place and they are probably getting paid a hefty profit on top of it. It also does foster positive relationships with China
(as if Sam Walton hasn't already given them the equivalent of a BJ with Walmart)

NONE of those reasons are good enough for me.

The rich and powerful see the world as just that a world.
The "Prols" we are still thinking of Roosevelt, Churchill,and being a patriot who plotted and schemed to ensure their beloved nations survived against numerous enemys
The betters(sic) accept( due to the benefits to them.) the concept of no borders.
Thre is no regard to fellow nationals anymore, we are just cattle.
Most of the worlds super rich are sociopathic and without concsience...no man gets super rich without exploiting his felow man.

they are doing great and amazing things abroad, whats the problem?? china is the new rome and your tax dollars are funding it. be happy to be apart of such exciting times. this is the kinda great stuff our ancestors sacrificed their lives for, YAY PATRIOTISM!!

The Chinese method of rule wasn't bad for a few thousand years, it was the influx of Opium from Western traders that really messed things up.

It makes perfect sense... Why would they build here, in the USA, a nation that is scheduled for demolition? A major power shift is taking place. First, they build up this country the best they can so its powerful and wealthy. Then, at the right moment, (Sept 11th 2001) they pull the carpet out from under our feet. Start using our military power to seize lands for profit and blowing all the money we have, steal all the gold, and when every other country hates us like Nazi Germany and there is no money or gold left, step out and put a dummy puppet in charge to run the show while you and your buddies step back and move to their 80,000 acre getaway down in south America and plan the next move, create the next superpower, repeat the process until they can establish the new world order. You can't have a country get too powerful, because then its citizens start to have power too, and power must not be shared with the citizenry... Lest the citizens take it upon themselves to use some of that power to make a real and permanent difference in the world...

Good point, there were very decent indigenous systems of governance over history, many of which fell due to western/European meddling. The fact of the matter is that international bankers and corporations have zero emotional ties to a country. You have to remember with the amount of money they have the bankers can go buy a house anywhere they want if they like it. It's like a Scarface and "The world is mine(yours)" complex.

Well said, and notice the lack of reply to your question.
The chinese embraced Stalin and incorporated the life is cheap , so murder is free to commit ...style of governning.

How did we all sell out each other and buy chinese goods because they were cheap?
