I didn't. I honestly didn't know who it was, but today MSN posted this article.

Carlos Slim loses $8 Billion in 4 days.

Carlos Slim, the world’s richest man, lost about $6.7 billion this week.

The Mexican billionaire’s stock portfolio, measured in U.S. dollars, has dropped about 9.5 percent since July 29 and is valued at about $64.4 billion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. That compares with a 7.2 percent slide in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index.

Looks like he just lost some money too. Aw. I feel so bad for him........not.

Maybe we should start a fund to help this poor guy out.

I wonder wher slim made his initial capital to start up... It takes money to make money as they all say. I wonder if he is the one skimming the moneu off the drug industry for the cia and cartels and laundering it for them lol. Just an off the wall idea that is neither here nor there.

I once got in an argument with someone who claimed that the richest person in the world was someone who recently invented a vacuum cleaner. I tried to argue that it was likely not true, but was told that it was true 'cause it was read in a magazine. I tried to reason with him reminding him that throughout the centuries, there has been royal families that marry amongst themselves to keep the wealth with the wealthy and that likely the ruling monarch would be the richest people in the world (my uneducated but logical guess). But my main point in the argument was this:
Do you really think the richest person in the world would let the world know that he was the richest? I understand that wealth can be a thing about stature and that many people would love the title "the richest person on Earth", but I think it's more about power and wouldn't one be more powerful if you kept your money a secret only to be used as a surprise sometime?

Its probably bull #. Carlos slim is not the richest man in the world. They would not tell you who the riches man in the world is. The federal reserve controls the moeny system, the people that control the federal reserve are the elite master mind behind this company we call America and the elite like to stay hidden. I am sure their are people with more money than Carlos slim. All so consider that in the eyes of the law a company is a person.

You have a very good point. I feel the same way, the richest of the rich have no need to be recognized for their wealth. On the contrary, it would actually be to their detriment since money is associated with power, and many powerful people prefer to pull the strings behind the curtain, never letting the world know of their involvement. The richest person in the world is surely one of the Rothschilds. Someone else posted this video on another thread and I thought it was fantastic- it shows how truly wealthy the Rothschilds are, and that their assets cannot even begin to be counted.

Negative star for you sir.

Investments include risk. You win some, you lose some.

This guy still has more money and power then any of us will ever see.

To those who don't believe that this man is the richest in the world or that MSN is lying to you....

Well you’re probably right.

I'm in Mexico. Carlos Slim is a Lebanese immigrant to Mexico, and he surpassed Bill Gates as the richest man in the world a couple of years ago. He owns ALL the telecommunications of any kind in the whole country. I have no idea how he got to this position, but he has a definite monopoly on all telecom here and monopoly is the name of the game. He doesn't announce how much he has, just when they count it up he apparently has the most. I'm sure there are others who have hidden their wealth better who have more, but that's neither here nor there. Or actually, I guess it is, but that would be another whole thread.
