Civil War?

Do you know why they support the IRA? I have met people who have come over here from New York and they say that they know many people who support the IRA but actualy know nothing about it and those people who came over knew nothing about it either but they lived and worked in London for a few months and realised the threat that they posed with underground delays etc due to bomb scares every week - this was a couple of weeks ago and things have calmed down since then.

I understand what you are saying about America being a multi cultural society and I know it is but I dont think you necessarily get the whole feel of different cultures purely on that basis. The UK is too very multi cultural - I dont know if you have been over here but we have cultures from all over the world living here.

I went to New York last year and I must admit I loved it and cant wait to go back - it just annoys me about the attitude of some Americans I know I have stereotyped but thats the way Americans stereotype themselves in the movies etc and the way other nations are stereotyped as less significant. I suppose that's just Hollywood though.

I just wanna make clear, that "america" is not just Bush. "America" didn't screw up. Bush screwed up. Blame him, not "america". Well over half the world AND "american" citizen's were against the damned war in the first place. BUSH went and started it despite all that. It's not america's fault. that is very true, my next door neighbor is Thai, 2 of my neighbors across the street are Indian, another one is Arab, a Mexican family is my other next door neighbor. down the street is a family of African people, there is also a huge family of Tongans that lives in my city that i went to school with all their children.

Violence is of no use, it won't work!!!!!!!! A major change in the government can
be accomplished if only the organizations who are oppossed to the abouse of
governmental power would unite in one large organization and form a new political
party. Remember civil wars are caused when two diametrically oppossed groups face
off: pro slave vs free the slaves (American Civil), communist vs fascist (Spanish
Civil War), etc. In this scenario, the military would probably split into two factions.
Remember Robert E. Lee was a West Point Graduate and in the U. S. Army before he
became a Confederate general. But in this day and age any war similar the the American
Civil War would be devestating and most likely the rest of the world would intervene
for their own protection. Why??? Because we have nukes up the ying yang. The rest
of the world would probably be afraid one side or the other might just decide to touch
off a few nukes to eliminate the opposition (and maybe start a nuclear winter).
However it need not come to that to bring about change in the USA. All that needed to
be done, is for all the current groups opposed to current abuse of governmental power
to unite and form a new political party (cannot use the old parties, they are too
corrupt). With the combined resources of such an organization, the rest of the American
public could become informed of the truth (though the use of newspapers and TV).
Although such a political party would initially not be able to completely control
Congress with a majority, it could probably get enough seats to be able to block
legislation. This won't happen though, because it would mean that all sorts of diverse
groups would have to unite. Can you imagine a convention in which conservative
christians are in the same auditorium with the people from MUFON and representatives
from the NRA?? That's the basic problem - we who oppose government abuse are divided,
the Feds are united. Futhermore you won't find enough Americans who are willing to
stand up to federal abuse to make much of a difference.

Yours truly has been with the tax movement for several years and now will probably
go to prison because of his actions. Almost every one I have talked to over the last
few years hates the IRS, yet they file their 1040's every year. I have met guys from
the NRA who grumble about the Brady Bill and how the government is taking away their
guns. Yet these guys file a 1040 every year. How many people do you know who believe
in alien conspiracies, black projects, etc. that will not pick up a book on law or
banking. How many people do you know who have put their a** on the line as I have done
and many of my associates have done? I will tell you, very few. There is not enough
Americans with the will (balls) or knowledge to make a difference. As long as Mr. Average
American can have his house (or fancy apartment), his car, his beer, his cable TV,
his credit cards, his government subsidies there will be revolt or civil war. The
government can (and will) strip every civil right from the American people, yet there
will be no uprising as long as the average American can maintain his materialistic
life style.

people off because Chris is a hard ove covenantionalist Christian. I have met him
a couple of times and he can be quite intense. However his site does contain a huge
amount of information concerning legal issues and government abuse of power (all well
documented). Chris Hansen has probably done more research on matters of law, banking,
and government abuse than any member ATS 2.00.

I would actually have to agree that Civil War is not the way and other ways must be thought through, something which i've been working on for a while anyways but haven't had alot of success at, i actually consider it my life's work, changing the system

that's not just the present govt. system, that's the govt, religious, cultural system, changing EVERYTHING

sounds difficult and far fetched but i can try? and i'm only 18 right now so i still have a pretty good amount of time to accomplish it

Brit, I openly admit that a majority of my country is quite ignorant in many ways. Indeed, I have many posts of that nature, read them. But this does not mean that all Americans are dumb rednecks. Education is how we need to combat the government. Not through violence but through knowledge. If the government kills us, then it will show that they are the same as china is to the falun gong and other resisters, or saddam was to revolutionaries. Or Iran is to non-muslims. I would give my life, not in a battle of tanks and guns and aircraft but in one of words, ideas and knowledge. I would do as the buddhists did to protest the corrupt South Vietnamese government. We need to show the UN and the world that America is not as free as it is purported to be, You and Me and all of us have to stand up and say "I will not accept the current government, I will not fight an imaginary war, I will not pay taxes to kill children instead of feed them." This our right, our right to our own words, to our own actions. Not the words and actions dictated to us from a demagogue. We need a real government not one that shares many things in common with Howdy Doody.

over the course of this thread, and other events, i've decided that rebellion in the streets isn't the best option, wasn't at the top of my list in the first place, but it is a last resort. the best way is to develop a politcal party that gets things DONE. instead of method, make it happen, instead of internal fighting, how about external peace. what about a philosophical and theoretical renaissance, too much today do you hear it doesn't happen like that. that's byzantine. we aren't about to face another dark age, but unfortunately the pieces fall into place, another plague, SARS, wars all round the world, terrorism, lack of things to do. economic classism. free ourselves of the class society, and become one thing, one idea, humanity. no two men should fight, just as no two men should have to worship something other than themselves for fulfillment. make the best of the life you have NOW, for in a minute, it could be lost. we don't know so make sure.

What causes civil war? CULTURAL DIFFERENCES!

And that's pretty much it when concerning Nation States.

Of course it is easy for Feudalism to have civil wars, for empires to have civil wars, but for nation states it is extremely difficult.

What allowed the first Civil War in America? The Cultural GRAND CANYON between the Rural and white South, and the multi-racial, multi-ethnic industrial north.

Today do you see any difference between LA, Chicago, and New York City?

There are really very few differences, all are packed to the brim with crime, stupidity, and minorities.

There is no where in America that is enough of its original stock to make a difference.

Nevada is one, (northern anyways), probably Idaho, Montana, most of the western states have rural populations in them that are generational, meaning they've been there for several generations.

But California and Arizona, and many of the western states also have a LOT of immigrants.

The chances of a Civil War would have to mean a sudden disdane for immigrants like never before seen.

That will never happen.
