Is it a good thing?
Have I or the human species been hijacked by covert unconscious forces?
Searching for the Google effect on human memory
Four years ago, Betsy Sparrow became exasperated watching an old black-and-white fi lm called Gaslight. She recognized the young actress playing the maid but couldn’t remember her name. Luckily, she had her smartphone. “I found the answer* online immediately,” she says, and the relief was palpable.
That incident sparked a conversation with her husband that continued into the night. “How did we use to remember things like this before the Internet?” wondered Sparrow, who at the time was a psychology graduate student at Harvard University.
Internet's memory effects quantified in computer study
She explained that the propensity of participants to remember the location of the information, rather than the information itself, is a sign that people are not becoming less able to remember things, but simply organising vast amounts of available information in a more accessible way.
"I don't think Google is making us stupid - we're just changing the way that we're remembering things... If you can find stuff online even while you're walking down the street these days, then the skill to have, the thing to remember, is where to go to find the information. It's just like it would be with people - the skill to have is to remember who to go see about [particular topics]."

Yes, the human species is being hijacked by covert forces.
So: Why don't we know this?
The finding is that we agreed to forget it in order to make life more interesting. Being knowing cause all the time can become dull and boring. Too predictable. So we all decided to pretend that there are things we can experience that weren't caused by us. If it had stayed on that level, it would have been okay. Like kids playing "let's pretend."
When the New Agers talk about humanity "waking up" this is what they are really talking about. They are talking about somehow getting out from under those parasitic control mechanisms. It is something each person has to personally accomplish. It takes a lot of work. I use Scientology for this and I think everybody should. But there are plenty of other choices. We all have a lot to learn about this. It's not always fun or easy, but it is necessary for our survival. Find a way that seems workable to you and use it!
We need creative thinkers now more than ever. I don't want to see another one lost to the "Dark Side."
